  1. What TripAdvisor Inside Is
  2. Welcome to TripAdvisor Inside! This is a new part of our site where our members can share knowledge with other travelers. In this area, members can add, update and edit content for attractions, restaurants and destinations.

TripAdvisor believes that real travelers are the best source of travel information, which is why we are putting the power to control the content in your hands

For example, if you go to the Inside London page, you will see many options for pages to edit or create, such as "Public Transportation." By clicking there, you can update that page with a description of the "The Tube" or your favorite bus route. From here, you can choose other London topics and contribute your helpful hints for things to do in the area, favorite restaurants, must-see museums or overlooked shows.

  3. What TripAdvisor Inside Is Not
    • A substitute for Traveler Reviews. TripAdvisor Inside isn't the place to post your opinions. If you'd like to write your opinions of a hotel, restaurant or attraction, you should write a review instead.

    • A chatroom. TripAdvisor Inside isn't the place to connect with others from your hometown, share stories about adventures in the Alps or ask about the best places to eat in Washington, D.C. If you would like to discuss these topics, a great place to do that is in our Forums.

    • An editorial page.TripAdvisor Inside isn't a place for religious, ethical, or political arguments or opinions, so please stick to travel-related facts.

  4. How It Works
  5. TripAdvisor Inside content is added and edited by you, our members. Simply register on TripAdvisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/MemberSignIn) and you're ready to write! Once you've signed in, you can edit a page, add a page, upload photos and more. Remember, TripAdvisor Inside pages are not reviews, nor are they a discussion board; you can click the write a review link or visit our Forums area at any time to enjoy these other features. TripAdvisor Inside pages are for factual information, helpful hints about an area, or photos that you add, edit and manage.

Here are some helpful hints on how to start using the TripAdvisor Inside pages.

To contribute a page about the history of Los Angeles:

    • Search for "Los Angeles" on TripAdvisor's homepage. Click on the search result link.

    • Toward the middle of the page, you'll see the section called "Inside Los Angeles." Click on the "Write about Los Angeles" link.

    • To write about the history of Los Angeles, navigate to the (top) section called "Background."

    • Click on the link called "History."

    • Click the pencil icon which says, "Edit." Start writing!

Now let's say you want to add a completely new page - for example, a special page about driving in Los Angeles:

    • Search for "Los Angeles" on TripAdvisor's homepage. Click on the search result link.

    • Toward the middle of the page, you'll see the section called "Inside Los Angeles." Click the "Write about Los Angeles" link.

    • Navigate to the section called "Transportation" and choose a sub-topic such as "Getting Around."

    • On the right-hand side, navigate to the section called "Actions."

    • Choose to "Add a new page to this topic."

    • Name your page, for example, "Best Rush Hour Shortcuts." Start writing!

    To edit an existing page:

    • Navigate to the "Actions" section on that page (as noted above) and choose "Edit this Page." Or click the pencil icon that says "Edit."

To describe your edits to other members:

    • Use the "Comments" box on the bottom left of the "Edit" page. This is a great place to note that you corrected a typo, added a photo, etc.

You will find more specifics about editing and formatting pages in our Help section.

  6. The Basic Rules
    • To create or edit a page, you must register on our site, and you must be at least 13 years old.

    • You may not post anyone else's contact information or the real name of any other member. We do not recommend you post your own, either.

    • You may not impersonate TripAdvisor staff. Screen names and post content should not contain anything that would indicate you work for TripAdvisor. If TripAdvisor wants to contact members, share an announcement or solicit feedback, we will always make ourselves known as official staff members. If you have questions or comments for us, we would love to hear them; please e-mail support@tripadvisor.com.

    • We reserve the right to remove any content for any reason. However, our members are encouraged to get personally involved and edit TripAdvisor Inside pages themselves.

    TripAdvisor Inside content must be:

    • Family-friendly. No profanity, threats, prejudiced comments, hate speech, sexual language or explicit descriptions, or other non-family-friendly content. No reports of deaths, violent criminal activity or participation in drug-related activity.

    • Original and not in violation of anyone else's copyright. It's your guide -- we want to hear it in your own words! Short quotations from other sources are generally acceptable, but attribution is essential, preferably with a link to the source.

Do not post copyrighted material, trademarks, passwords, confidential information or intellectual property of any other person. This includes photos. Please see our Photo Submission Guidelines.

    • Relevant and factual. No personally insulting language and/or descriptions and no smear campaigns. This is not a forum for general political, ethical or religious opinions. We will remove questions or comments directed to TripAdvisor staff, other TripAdvisor members or property representatives.

    • Non-commercial. No self-promotional material of any kind, including website addresses and e-mail addresses. We allow links to pages outside of TripAdvisor, but we can only maintain this if it is not abused. If you aren't sure if something is non-commercial, please e-mail support@tripadvisor.com to ask our editors.

    • Written in English.
