Brookline is known, rightly, as a suburb of Boston. However, it does not yield ALL nightlife to its big brother on the eastern border. When night time comes, there are still afew things to do:
1. Matt Murphy's Pub is a fantastic "upscale" Irish eatery that becomes a haven for hip, in the know scenesters after 10 PM. On any given night you might find Jazz, Reggae, Rock or house DJs smooshed into its small confines. Cash only and be prepared to stand - and have great time!
2. The Washington Square Tavern is another eatery with great food that is also a great place to meet around a very convivial bar. The bartenders really know what they are doing and owner Gerry Finnegan will probably make an effort to get tpo know you.
3. Catch a Midnight Movie at The Coolidge Corner Theatre . This theatre is the pride of the community anytime during the day but is particulalry fun when showing more daring, campy or interesting fare late at night. Always pulls in an interesting crowd.
