Note: Many Manhattan restaurants are family friendly, you just can't tell from the outside. It will be worth your while to go in and check the menu. .Don't assume that because there are no kids in the restaraunt that it won't work for you, either -- Manhattan just has so many young adults with money that they fill the restaraunts.
Cowgirl Hall Of Fame (519 Hudson St., at 10th St in Greenwhich Village). Very kid friendly place with good food for adults too. Be sure to check out the barbed wire exhibit in the back!
John's Pizza and here (260 W. 44 bet. B-way & 8th) There are several, this link reviews the one in Times Square. HUGE restaurant. Can be extremely crowded on weekends before shows because they are one of the few Times Sqaure restaurants that can accomodate large groups. This is really an Italian restaraunt, not just a Pizza place. Food is adequate for the price (don't take that negatively, it just means that one should only expect normal food for normal prices)
Ollie's Noodle Shop (200 West 44th St (Broadway & 7th). In the heart of Times Square
Ellens Stardust Diner - Located in Times Square on the corner of Broadway and 51st. While the food is OK, nothing spectacular, just good; the waiting staff are definately out of the ordinary. Why? Because they are all extremely good singers and entertain the customers singing Broadway tunes. If celebrating a birthday, call ahead and they will sing Happy Birthday to the celebratee! When making reservations, ask for a booth on the ground floor as this is where the main action takes place.
Carmines - the legendary Italian restaurant. Servings are family sized and the food is wonderful. Reservations are recommended for groups of 4 or more especially before show time in the Theater District location. The UWS location is equally busy.
