Get some Monorail passes, they are great once you know where to get on and off:
The best hotel for monorail use are
1) Harrah's & Imperial Palace - same stop. Location out back between the 2 hotel's parking decks) Neat thing at this stop is the misty cool air that is pumped on hot summer days. Excellent place to depart for either the north or south end of the strip on you 1st visit to this city of lights. Good for access to TI, Caesar's Place, The Mirage, and the Venetian.
2) Hooters - yes, Hooters; it's closer than most MGM rooms. Location is next to the MGM parking deck, actually has 2 entrances one from inside the food-court area & walk to the MGM pool. The other is the original entrance, a walkway down a make-shift Hollywood Blvd. that has gift shops and those frozen drinks. This is the entrance to use from Hooters just across the street from the MGM Valet parking and check-in area. Be careful: the MGM valet is like a 6-lane interstate with all types of lanes.
Also good alternatives to buses and cabs/taxi's
3) LV Hilton - stop is located at the Star trek exhibit entrance. YOU might never get to the LV Hilton if it did not have the monorail stop. The LV Hilton also has the world's largest so-called and what has become one of the best sports books in Vegas if not the planet. This sports book is DARK, but ALL the odds are posted on scoreboard type screens; NONE of those old school marker or magnet boards here.
4) Bally's - good location but a long walk to the Strip; great if you like air conditioned climate. This stop can boast it has the closest walk to an air conditioned climate. It is a couple of yards from the actual Bally's casino. You will need to walk past a bunch of places that have the quick eats like pizza and hot dogs. You will get to see a large sports book on the way that looks like a small theatre made to look like a stadium. The back wall of this sports book appears to be the old Jai-Alai fonton wall from the 70's. But was never able to confirm it one way or the other. Good stop on the MONORAIL for those wanting to take a look at the Bellagio Fountains. Best vantage point to watch the fountains show is on the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Strip at this point.
5) Flamingo - If you like to watch people sitting by the pool or want to check out the outstanding pool at the Flamingo, get off here and take a look on the "s" curve walkway that leads to the front desk.
6) Sahara - Great for that trip back to your home hotel; beats walking plus the cheap local bus stop is at this location. Use it as an alternative to the deuce to get to downtown area & Freemont street. One of the best ways to get to the "Stratosphere's" space needle tower
7) Convention center - stop just there for that purpose and serves it well. The Wynn is supposed to have a shuttle over to its hotel t this stop but is hard to find. There is also a free wi-fi location at this stop.
