Because Carson City is located in a semi-desert climate, there aren't too many outdoor sports you can do comfortably. There aren't any professional sports teams in the area, although there has been talk in recent years of moving a professional baseball team to Las Vegas, but that is just rumor. While in Carson City, there are some great golf courses to check out. Whether it's 9 or 18-hole, the golf courses will please the players. If golfing isn't your thing, you can head to Lake Tahoe, which isn't too far away, and go mountain biking, skiing, or take a boat out on the lake. Because Lake Tahoe is so close to Carson City, there is a transporation service that runs daily to and from the lake. If you want to have a nice picnic with the family, head to Mills Park located at 1111 E. William St. Each picnic pavillion has barbeque pits, electricity, and restrooms nearby. Other parks include the Carson City Fairgrounds and Fuji Park where Super Outlaw Kart Races take place every Saturday beginning in May. There are also rodeos held there, and large crowds can gather and watch.
