Though there haven't been a great deal of writings specifically relating to Carson City, there are a great number that can give a general image of life on the frontier. A great example of this would be the readings by Mark Twain. Twain spent some time in Carson City and it is known that he loved it. There is something so simple and pure out there that his writing seems to capture, especially when he writes about the west in general. Twain was known for his exceptional use of vernacular, and he would always capture perfectly the actions and characters of where he was writing about. Because of this, Twain's writing can give great insights into what life was like out in Carson City 150 years ago. Still, there are many things which remain the same, such as the attitudes of the people, and the sights and scenes that Twain saw. If you're in town and want to get a feel of what the locals think, pick up the Nevada Appeal, the locally run newspaper which is printed in Carson City.
