Lijiang women’s dress is also one off the attractions in the Old Town. No matter where you go in the Old Town, on the busy streets or the small roads, you'll see many Laxi (the main minority group in Lijiang) women dressed in traditional gowns. It is a kind of long gown consists of several pieces. One piece is like an apron that goes around your waist. The top sweater goes just over the knees. The sleeves are very wide. And the most interesting part is the decoration made of goat skin on the shoulder. There are two cloth rings hanging from the decoration. There are also patterns made with silk on the decoration. One ring represents the sun and the other ring represents the moon. Around the two big cloth rings, there are seven smaller cloth rings that the stars. Together they symbolize the braveness of Laxi woman, who works 364 days a year except the New Years Eve.
