At night, the best thing to do in the Lijiang Old Town is to listen to Naxi music.  Naxi is a minority group in China with very rich history and culture.  Their music generally give people a feeling of ancient.  First, the music itself is ancient.  The style of music came to Naxi about during the Ming Qing Dynasty.  The music been played every night are all from an even earlier time period.  Second, the musical instruments are ancient.  They were invented hundreds of years ago in China.  Most of the people haven't even seen them. Third, all the artists are about 70 to 80 years old.  They come from different backgrounds, some are farmers, some are teachers, and some are tailors.  They all have different life experience and you can feel that in their music.

The music is played every night at eight o'clock in a concert life format.  The location is at East Avenue. It is the best music concerts in the Oldtown.  The ticket price is about 30 to 50 Yuan.
