Life in Mahdia is pleasant; it is a place where the pace of life is slow and the goal of all of the people living and traveling there seems to be constant relaxation.  The downfall to this is that there is very little in the way of active nightlife in the city.  Travelers will find that the best place for drinking is probably whichever restaurant they find suits their tastes best, and the best place for local entertainment is probably the hotel they are staying in.  The best location within Mahdia to explore either of these options is probably the Place du Caire.  The nicer resorts along the waterfront are also a good option.

Comprehensive hotel information for visitors seeking to move among the hotels in search of the nightlife is available at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g29... .   One of the most popular choices is the Melia El Mouradi Mahdia ( http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Revi... or http://www.solmelia.com/solNew/hotele... ).   This hotel features a lounge bar, an American style bar and a dance club which usually plays blues music.   These may not all be open at the same time, but at least one should have some sort of entertainment for interested travelers.

For the most part, rather than heading indoors at night, most of the people in Mahdia actually head outside.  The beach is pretty active at night with vendors staying open to sell late night snacks.  Visitors should know that this is only true during the tourist season in the summer.  During the off season, there is almost nothing in the way of local nightlife at all.
