Bhutan has four seasons: spring is perhaps one of the most beautiful, when flowers bloom and the stringent cold subsides. Summer months in the south are generally hot. Summer is proceeded and then the annual monsoon season begins from June to September. The fall has shorter days and the cold chill in the air begins to set in. The most popular times to visit Bhutan is between September and November or March and June, when the days are generally warm with very little rain, sun and temperatures between 77 and 86 degrees. In the spring, between March and June, there are more flowers and luscious fauna to regard; between September and November, in the fall, the days are shorter and a bit colder, but it is still a pleasant time to visit. At both of these times, there are interesting festivals and good weather for hiking.
Since Bhutan is at such a high altitude nights can be very cold year round; thus, it is important to layer ones clothes before bed. In winter, beginning in December, it can get significantly colder. However, the higher section of Bhutan has sunnier, more pleasurable weather. Meanwhile the lower parts of the country can be colder and rainier throughout.
