Whatever you're looking for, chances are you'll find it here in Malaga. Fashionistas can snap up high-fashion, while those seeking unique souvenirs can browse the homemade crafts. It may not be Barcelona or Madrid, but there are plenty of interesting things to strike your fancy. Furniture, antiques, leather goods; it's just a matter of where you look. The most popular areas for shopping are Calle Larios, going to Calle Granada. Here you'll find an array of goods - also, check Plaza de la Constitucion. If you're not looking to actually buy anything (but who on their vacation isn't?), at least take a look in the shop windows. The displays in store windows are elaborate and obviously shopkeepers take a lot of pride in presenting their wares, so it's always interesting to walk the streets and gaze at the different windows.
There are shopping centres and department stores, to be sure, but if you want to combine your sightseeing with a bit of shopping, try exploring the Historical Quarter. Take in a couple of museums and then change it up by shopping along the cute streets adjacent to the beaches and water.
Take note of the "siesta" in the middle of the day - you may find that the smaller shops have closed for a few hours in the afternoon while the employees head home for a hearty meal and a little nap. You probably won't encounter this, however, in the large shops and department stores.
Calle Nueva is a narrow street running parallel to Calle Larios, and the area between these two streets are filled with stores.
At the corner of the Avenida de Andalucia and Armengual de la Mota is the El Corte Ingles department store. The building has fashions and a big supermarket in the basement. Diagonally across the street is the El Corte Ingles Hogar, which contains furniture and things for the home.
Armengual de la Mota is filled with stores, including the Malaga Plaza Centro Commercial, a small shopping center.
On the Avenida de la Aurora is the Larios Centro, a big shopping mall that has a large supermarket, a movie complex, and many restaurants.
The newest shopping mall is Vialia, located at the Renfe train station. This is a big shopping mall with many restaurants and a movie complex.
