There is a good hotel in Benalmadena called the Hotel Torrequebrada, built on a cliff beside the sea. The hotel has been recently remodeled and it is one of the most beautiful hotels around. It includes a casino, which only admits adults and one has to show one’s passport or DNI to enter.
Downstairs, at the Fortuna Nightclub, you can see an extravagant, Las Vegas-type show. One can buy tickets only for the show or one can buy tickets for the dinner and show, which is recommended. One has to be at least 16 to see the show.
The restaurant is very large, with the semi-circular stage in front. There are tables in front of the stage, forming the other part of the semi-circle. After that there are more tables for dinner, and on top of these there is a mezzanine, with more tables. Everywhere in the restaurant one has a good view of the stage.
The first part of the show is flamenco, with 9 men and 9 women dancing. The costumes are very beautiful and expensive. The style of flamenco is a mixture of flamenco and ballet, with choreography that is very exacting, highly stylized. The dancers go through several changes of costume and they have many original dance numbers which are quite enjoyable. There is one with chairs and walking canes, with all the dancers in male costumes. At the end there is a young man who dances pure flamenco, and he is very good and very gifted as a flamenco dancer.
At the end of the flamenco show, one is surprised that the stage and the semi-circle turns 360 degrees! This signals the end of the flamenco show.
The second part of the show is an international revue. There is a very gifted juggler. He juggles pieces in the semidarkness of the stage, and the pieces are lighted from within, so one can see the pieces being juggled all over the place.
The dancing part of the revue has some nudity and half of the show girls are topless. They have beautiful costumes, with all of the feathers and glitter. It is a very professional show and very enjoyable. The most beautiful part of the dance is one with the music of Sarah Brightman. It features black costumes of the desert nomads. Of course the costumes are stylized. There are a lot of flimsy veils, harem pants, glitter, and half of the dancers are topless again.
For visitors who come to the Costa del Sol, this beautiful show is a must. It is very professional and on a par with anything one can see in Las Vegas. The flamenco part is highly original and cannot be seen anywhere else in the world!
