Birthdays and Saint’s Days
Birthdays, as well as Saint's Day are celebrated in Spain . Spain is a predominantly a Catholic country. Babies are usually given the names of saints. For example if a girl is named Carmen, one just has to look at the Catholic list of saints and their feast days available on the web:

Look on the above website for the feast day of St. Carmen, which happens to be July 16. On that day friends of Carmen will call her to wish her a happy feasts day of her saint. This is very traditional in Spain . Presents are also given to the person with the saints day.
