Stratford upon Avon is a beautiful Market Town in Warwickshire in the Heart of England.  It is very compact so easy to get around on foot.  An ideal way to discover Stratford is by joining the daily guided walking tour with Stratford Town Walk  - Winner of the 'Best Visitor Attraction' - Godiva Awards.  It operates every day of the year, even Christmas Day and you don't have to book, just turn up.

A visit to Stratford has to include a trip on the River Avon - a rowing boat, a motor boat or perhaps a River Boat Cruise.  See the wildlife - the majestic Swans, beautiful views and relax in the sunshine.  For a little culture visit at least one of the Shakespeare Houses and find out what it was like to live in the Tudor and Elizabethan times.  Take a few moments to relax in Holy Trinity Church, where William Shakespeare is buried.  Find out what is meant by a 'weeping Chancel'.  If you are coming to Stratford try and see a Shakespeare play at one of the Royal Shakespeare Theatres.  The staging and atmosphere is always amazing - a truly memorable occasion.  You may like to consider visiting Shakespearience.  A magical snapshot of Shakespeare.

There is no shortage of eateries in Stratford - restaurants, coffee shops, pubs and plenty of good quality take-aways.  A picnic by the River is a great way to spend an hour or two while you re-charge your batteries and take in the jugglers or fire-eaters.  For further entertainment there is the Butterfly Farm, the Teddy Bear Museum, childrens playground and mini-golf and the Falstaffs Experience.   If you fancy an evening stroll try the spooky award winning Stratford Town Ghost Walk but not for the those of a nervous disposition.  Hear tales of ghosts witches murder and mayhem.  Be afraid, very afraid....

When you want to explore a little further afield you can hire a bike. You can explore the local area and cycle to Anne Hathaways cottage, Mary Ardens House or the nearby villages.  There is also nearby Warwick and the finest mediaeval Castle in the Country, or a short drive/cycle away, the Cotswolds. That's quite a lot for a first visit!
