Try renting a car and driving up into the mountains.  It is absolutely beautiful, sights you cannot see anywhere else but caution, if you venture  a little too far off the beaten path you may run into an military bunker of sorts with military personnel complete with machine guns.

Driving in downtown P.V. is a little challenging in the beginning but once you get the hang of it, it's great fun and you can see so much of the local culture instead of being dropped off at the very "touristy" places the buses tend to take you to.
