Playa Grande is probably the most aesthetically pleasing golf course in the Dominican Republic. There must be 7 holes that border the ocean and the views are awesome. Not to mention that you have to hit over the ocean on at least four of these holes. The only negative about the course is that it is out of the way to get to (about and hour from Cabarete) and because it does not get much play, the maintenance is not the greatest. A rumor is the course is going to close for remodelling in September 2008 because a new group of investors has purchased the property. However, one caddy said this rumor has been around for over a year. This great design can be played for $60.00 plus $20 for your caddy. This is a far cry from the outrageous fees at Punta Cana and other resort courses. If you are going to be in the DR for any length of time, it is worth two day trip to play it.
