I’m writing this review because Tuscany is full of agriturismo and B&Bs but Quercia Rossa is a hidden gem! My partner and I have just returned two weeks in Tuscany, 3 days of the trip spent in Maremma at QR: could certainly have stayed longer, but they were strongly booked. We chose QR after a rather exhaustive web search of area B&B locations, choosing it based on the reviews we read on various websites and on its location. This B&B is located between Rome and Siena/Chianti/Crete Senesi, half an hour away from the coast and close to Saturnia, Sovana and Pitigliano, on a quaint and quiet hill of a perfectly–traced tuscan landscape. We traveled the world and have stayed at many outstanding hotels, inns and B&Bs, but seldom have we experienced such complete relaxation and enjoyment as our stay at this property. The room was extremely comfortable and cozy (we slept like babies each night, and loved waking up to the views of that landscape, each morning), clean and spacious (uncommon quality in the italian B&Bs), and the bathroom was as well. Plus a lovely garden to relax in. Breakfast is an international affair where you can meet people from all over the world. And after a long day at the Feniglia beach or Saturnia, Tuscan vineyards or villages (Montemerano, don’t miss it), Niki de Saint-Phalle Tarochs’ Garden or lunch in local restaurants, some suggested by the host (that also provided great background on the area's history and culture, and gave us some great tips for walks, hikes, and places to check out in the outlying areas), we came back and lounged by the pool looking out onto the magnificent view, relaxing and maybe with a little wine in the afternoon before dinner at the Quercia Rossa’s restaurant. This B&B is a rare treat - it gets our highest marks for the quality of the service, the general comfort, the staff, and the value. And last but not least for the atmosphere we found: a real heaven for landscape lovers escaping mass tourism for a quiet get-away, much different from the hordes of American and British tour groups and students who descend on other places where we stayed, like San Gemignano, Montelpuciano and Siena.
