“Great Resort, but not for kids or Foodies”

Aeolos Mareblue Hotel & Resort

May 25, 2008

It was a beautiful hotel with great views and facilities. All rooms were spacious and clean. We was moved to this hotel after booking the aqualand hotel as it was not available. This hotel is not child friendly, and the entertainment for the children was poor, however it is great for couples. The beach was not good, it was man made and smelt of poo...not recommended. The food was digraceful for an all inclusive, little choice and poorly quality, liitle food was fresh. The food also very much catered for the many many french/germany guests. However if you are looking for a place to relax, and enjoy clean pools, and great views it is recommended. The dancing french guests every evening definitly offered great entertainment. Not for Kids or Foodies.

This hotel is in a poor location on a busy road on the flight path for all flights in and out of Corfu.
The private beach is a scattering of sand over concrete, and on the right hand side we did see a stream which looked suspiciously like it was coming from the water treatment plant for the hotel!
If you go all inclusive they have everything from chips to pizza to snack on at any time, dinner is themed on different nationalities each night, but suspiciously similar every time! It wasn't poison, but it wasn't very nice - and it wasn't what you could call Greek!
You'll need to make a friend at the bar or you'll stand for 30 minutes while paying customers get served.
The "entertainment" was the same every night we were in the hotel, mostly in italian and mind numbing.
That review sounds a lot worse than the holiday was, we had a great time - just mostly when we got out of the hotel and went quite a distance elsewhere!

The Aeolos hotel was a good choice- all inclusive, reasonable price and good for a relaxing break. It is located in a small resort called perama, not alot close by- but taxi's are readily available, and very reasonable- a taxi to corfu town will cost about 15 euro's, or benitses about 7- benitses can be walked, taking around 20-25 minutes along the coastal road- we attempted it, but due to the hills gave in.

As the reviews all say the hotel is built onto a hill side- its a steep walk if you are towards the top of the resort, a mini bus will assist with check in and out, to save struggling with your cases.

The rooms are a good standard, but as with greece in generall very basic- ours had a double bed, a single bed and large table. as well as plenty of wardrobe space, a large fridge and shower/bathroom.

The food was excellent- to say not enough choice is a lie- a large table with fresh bread, an area in which steak/fish is fried, as well as a large salad area and generall food, with a wide variety of choice. there are 2 resteraunts, one open all meal times, and one open as a beach bar during the day, and an a la carte resteraunt at night.

The drinks were also good- a selection of about 7 coctails, aswell as the usual alcholic drinks available- as lots of people have commented on, there are no diet drinks on offer (i dont recall ever seeing this in any all inclusive hotels though) But plenty of fresh fruit juices, tea and coffee.

The beach area was nice, well kept but slightly rocky. we spent most relaxing days by the larger pool.

Feel free to contact me, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the hotel

“Excellent Value”

Aeolos Mareblue Hotel & Resort

Just returned on 5th October 07 after 2 great value for money weeks.
The reception staff were excellent, when we arrived our room was not available so they put us (my wife and myself) into a family apartment for the night and next day we were moved to what turned out to be the best room in the hotel with the best view across the pool and the sea - in the past when this has happened you tend to get pushed into a tiny box room for the night!
The weather was perfect - sunny 26 to 28 degrees every day. Hotel and grounds are kept extremely clean, room cleaned and sheets / towels changed every day and there were supervisors constantly checking all areas.
Food was very good quality and an excellent variety every day.
Restaurant staff were very polite, efficient and helpful.
We arrived at 1400 and went to the restaurant for lunch at 1510 - just 20 minutes before it was due to close and they were still bringing out freshly cooked trays of food - this continued to be the case every day so no need to rush down for early sittings.
The animation team worked tirelessly to offer all sorts of activities and the children on site seemed to adore them.
A couple of negatives to note, first it is quite remote if you like to get out and about for a walk the footpaths are very few or nonexistent. The location is very hilly (built into the side of a mountain) so dont go if you have walking difficulties. All of the beds and pillows are very hard resulting in disturbed sleep.
The first week was a broad mix of nationalities, German, French, Albanian, Italians and a few British.
Unfortunately the second week the majority were British (I am british by the way) and this was the week when good manners seemed to disappear and the moaning started. One man was heard to complain that he expected roast beef and yorkshire pudding - pathetic.
This apart I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is thinking of going (if you can ignore Corfu Airport chaos)

hotel was lovely, as were many of the guests. The food was pretty much the same everyday, no matter what the 'theme' for the evening.the entertainment was awful, which was a problem considering the hotel was in the middle of nowhere.another problem was the fact that i had a mp3 player stolen, others had money, cameras, mobile phones and jewellery stolen.the manager also refused to come down and speak to us about this, and resolve the situation.when all of us went down to the police station they would only put the stolen items as lost, even though a couple walked in on 2men in there room, and me and the person i was their with saw the same man on the reception roof.on a good note..their was some terrific views, corfu is a beautiful island..just choose another hotel!
