We just go back from Jamaica and stayed at Rose Hall. Based on other readers, I too was a little skeptical and wasnt sure what to expect but when with my gut instinct and hoped for the best. Check in was not a problem, we were a early checking in and the front desk staff were pleasant. Rooms need some upgrade such as better choice of paint, bathroom also could get some work. The toilet most definitely, at times, i felt like i was in a public restroom as the potty looks just like one you would see in a public restroom. Overall, the room was clean. The sliders were hard to open possibly built that way to discourage guest from using them.
The amenities were great, water slide was awesome, the lazy river awesome, it was cool to float around with your beer (hint-$5 bucks for a small cup, at the store $1 per bottle guys!) and soak up the sun! The beach front, I thought needed some work to keep clean as there were a lot of seaweeds on the shore. Some rocks in the water as well, wear your rubber shoes, you'ld be glad you did whe you enter the water!
The meals i thought were over-priced like any hotel, service was VERY VERY slow and not much courtesy from the wait staff. My recommendation as we did, if you do not have the all-inclusive and we asked around....check out MARGARITAVILLE downtown on the beachfront. The atmosphere was to die for and more reasonably prices, you definately save more money!
Over-all was a good trip and stay and would go back. Hint guys, a new hotel is in construction just down the street, awesome view from every room it seems! Do a general search or google for new construction hotel in montego bay or near rose hall resort and country club.

I have recently returned from this hotel, which we stayed in for our honeymoon. I have to say that on the whole the service was fine and staff courteous. There were some cases however where this did not happen but you can just not go to that particular restaurant.

well where do i start,DO NOT LISTEN TO NEGATIVE REVIEWS. well landed in montego bay at 11:30 am and was taken to our bus for the 15 min trip to rose hall. when we arrived and was waited on right away. i was expecting the person to say our room was not ready instead he asked if we wanted an upgrade and our friends from england was there and i asked if we could be put close to there room, no problem. 20 mins later we got our all-inclusive wrist-bands ,our suitcases were in our rooms and we were exploring the grounds. 10 mins later started raining so we visited the bar and got our drinks and said let the party start.

Rooms: okay people the rooms are a bit out-dated but the were very clean and set up nice. i would compare to a holiday inn in the usa.maid left us anything we needed , a few extra towels, and bathcloths. only complaint i had was the pillows i am used to a large fluffy pillow not a small flat one but in there defense i never asked for any extra.

Food: overall i would say the food was good.there was plenty of choices we never went hungry or thirsty while we were there. the fish they had there was wonderful. fried and grilled. i personally did not care for the goat but that is me. the 2 specialty restaurants, luna di mare was great, excellent food and service. the 3 palms even though was rated as one of the top 10 restaurants on the island i would say don't waste your time. go twice to the luna di mare. when we walked into the place we were in the bar and ordered a drink. the waiters then proceeded to take our orders serve soup salad and the entree and dessert and never asked if we wanted another drink, food was so-so at best and would have been upset if we would have had to pay for this dinner. according to the prices that they would have normally charged i would had had a heart attack if we were not all-inclusive. on a scale of 1 to 5 i would generously give this restaurant a 1 1/2. service at the cafe java was alittle on the slow side. dinner there took about 2 hrs on the average but for us at the end of the day it was a nice way to wind down the evening. we had no complaints and the food was very good.

tours: we went on 3 tours 1). went on the dunn's river falls tour. before we went into dunn's river the bus went to ocho rios to get the tickets for dunn's river. was confronted by my 1st drug dealer and i politely told him no thanks and i went into the store. upon leaving the store he was still waiting on me and offered again and this time i loudly told him that i was not interested in purchasing any drugs from him and loudly ask all 30 people in our group in any of them was interested in purchasing drugs from this guy and he then got the message and left us alone.as far as dunn's river tour me and my family hated it. in our opinion it is not very safe. if i went back i would leave this off. 2) braco horseback riding. we went on this tour and loved it. my wife was scared to death of this as she has never rode a horse and with her having M.S. her balance is not very good. the guides would not take no for an answer and took and guided her horse personally. after the ride she was glad they did, she loved it. 3) appleton rum tour. what can i say. got to taste 20 different rums.did find out upon leaving the country the rum is cheaper at the duty free store than at the rum factory so wait and buy your rum at the airport. about 7 us dollars cheaper per liter. only thing we hated about this trip ws the long ride back thru the mountains, alot of long winding roads.
in winding up the tours the only thing i really hated was the fact that everybody expected a tip. i feel that tipping should be done for exceptional service above the normal service but some tour leaders demanded it. also the cost of tours were rather expensive in my opinion.

Service at the rose hall: excellent. we treated the employees as if the were an extended member of our family and they treated us the same way. if we are going back to jamaica i would stay at the Rose Hall resort as our overall vacation was great.

Problems we did have: one bad thing we had happen at the rose hall was stealing. yes stealing. NOT FROM the employees mind you but from some boys from north carolina going around the pool area stealing people's cigarettes. i know i was embarrased as an american that a few boys whose family was preaching around the pool on how religious they were was in fact stealing. i say to all people that when you visit another country try to remember that you are representing your own country and to treat the country you are visiting and the people you are visiting with respect. if anybody has any questions feel free to ask and i will answer ASAP dlogon@hotmail.com
sincerely, ecurry

“Rose Hall, Jamaica Worth the Trip”

Rose Hall, Jamaica Worth the Trip
Date August 11, 2006
Traveler from New Jersey

After reading some of the reviews on Rose Hall, we were a little worried about what we had gotten ourselves into. But I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. Rose Hall is a beautiful resort with very friendly and helpful staff. The food was great, esp. dining at Three Palms. Each night the buffett was plentiful and good. The grounds were beautiful, especially the lazy river pool area. We were afraid it would be swamped with small, unattended children, but that was not the case. One draw back I must tell you, the ocean. It was not that wonderful Carribean blue, but it was warm and clean.

There is construction happening but we were unaffected by it. We knew this before we left and expected some inconvience, but there was not any. By the way, we got to get a sneak peak at the new rooms, WOW are they beautiful. Can't 'wait to go back. While in Jamaica experience the Dunn's River Falls. A bit of a long trip but worth the 1 1/2 hoour bus ride.
