We stayed at Coconut Bay Resort from May 18-May 22nd. It was for me and my husband's 6 year anniversary.

We arrived and were checked in promptly. We were escorted to our room and a very nice gentleman carried our luggage up there for us. Once we got into our room, I realized that we didn't get our "welcome champagne," so, I asked the nice gentleman about it and he went and got us a whole bottle of champagne for us. We walked into our room and were greated by rose petals in our bathroom and all over our bed with very cute towel art of two swans kissing. (you walk in, bathroom was on the left, walk further~the king size bed was on the left/dresser and tv was on the right. You walk past the bed and there is a table and couch and then you can walk on the balcony to a gorgeous view.
We immediately got on our swim suits and went to the swim up bar. The two bartenders there, Sting Ray and Melton AKA Gwen, were AWESOME! Whatever drinks we wanted, they made for us. Any questions we had, they answered. Oh, and if they ask you if you want to try the "local spice," get the orange one....not the red one. The red one reminded me of cough syrup.<--warning, you will be DRUNK off of ONE shot!
We triedthe Chinese restaurant that night. It wasn't the best chinese food to me. I remember that I did like the appetizers though. The next day we went on an excursion to the Volcano/Botanical Gardens. The roads are very curvy, and if you get motion or car sickness-be prepared!! The volcano was very neat to see. The guides were good and very informative. The sulfur smell was horrid though.:) The botanical gardens was very nice. A lot of pretty flowers. There is also a gorgeous waterfall for a nice photo op. (you're not allowed to swim in this waterfall) You are taken to another waterfall and you are able to get in. The water is FREEZING!! Plus, you can't tell what's in or at the bottom of the water, so, we didn't want to try that out. The driver is very nice and stops on the side of the road at very nice photo op. places and also a shop to buy souveniers/banana ketchup.
We went back to the hotel and enjoyed the lazy river, water slides, and the swim up bar again. We then got ready for our dinner at the Italian restaurant. This restaurant is GREAT and if I could do it all over again, I'd eat there every night.

The next day we went on two more excursions. First, we went ziplining through the rainforest. This was amazing!!! It was so much fun and I would do it all over again. The guides were awesome and would take pics of you ziplining for you. The second tour was the ATV's. This was fun also. This was my first time driving an ATV. It's automatic. The trail was fun, just a couple of spots on the course that were scary....driving over the rocks, going downhill wasn't my favorite thing to do. HA HA! There are great picture ops. there too. You drive to a place called honeymoon beach~The water and the beach were amazing! It was absolutely gorgeous. Bring your suit b/c you're able to get in and enjoy it!!! Also, along the trail, you stop at a place and there is fresh fruit/cake/drinks for you to refresh yourself before your tour ends. When we made it back to the hotel, we were able to get ready for the hotel's "Pirate Night." They had food set out, music going, dinner lighting...it was beautiful. The pirate show came on and it was entertaining. The pirate part was a joke, but, the dancers were neat. They limbo under fire and with partners, they eat fire...it was nice.

The next day, we relaxed around the resort. It was well needed after two days of being on the go non-stop. The adult pool was a nice get-a-way from the kids. (We went on this trip without our son, and there were so many kids there, it made us miss him even more!) We ate at the Italian restaurant for dinner again, even better than the first time. After dinner, we went downstairs for their Karaoke entertainment. It was BAD! LOL! We had one of the workers singing about getting high and the rest of the time it was a bunch of 8 yr olds singing Hannah Montana! LOL!

The next day we lounged around, shopped at the souvenier shop and downstairs where ladies set up a stand of merchandise to purchase.
One thing that I did not mention yet were the buffet and grill restaurants. Every time I went to the buffet, I had to rush to the bathroom within 5 minutes. Not sure why, but, that was not pleasant. The grill had a grilled tuna sandwich that was decent, and it was one of the few things that didn't upset my stomach. (Add cheese) At the buffet, I did enjoy the fruit, and toast with peanut butter.
Also, I had lost my cell phone. We bought an international calling card. Can't use ANY calling cards there!! So, I put my two calls on my credit card (one to call the phone company to let them know about my phone and one to my mother in law to call the airline to see if they found it) I had 2 $25 charges on my bill for these calls that were less than 2 min each! Plus, I just got my statement in and there were 2 more $20 charges!!!!!! SO, DO NOT USE THEIR PHONES UNLESS YOU WANT RAPED ON CHARGES!!

The staff was great to us! We have no complaints there. I just wish we knew it was more of a family resort. There are a lot of kids there-made us miss ours even more!

The beach was okay. There is a lot of seaweed, but, if you get in the water right after they clean it, it's not too terribly bad. You can see your feet, the water is so blue.
Hope this helps!

“Our Wedding @ Coconut Bay :-)”

Me & My now husband booked this place 1 year in advance with Virgin Holidays and took out a wedding party of 23 people incl 1 child. I cannot say how pleased we were with this hotel.
We all had a most fantastic holiday, right from when we left LGW. We arrived here to be greeted by the most helpful staff ever, and being a huge group they dealt with all our requests all week fantastically, from not only my wedding but to my dads 71st birthday and a 30th birthday in the group also.
The lads even challenged the bar staff to a game of footie.
All our rooms were great, my sister had a free upgrade with her husband simply 'cos they wanted a different view..
we were all spread out enough not to be on top of each other all week.
The entertainment was great each night and nothing was ever too much trouble for any of the staff..
we loved the "dirty banana" drink too - thankyou boys!
For someone like me who likes the "finer details" when it came to my wedding nothing was too much to ask. Syvlie is fantastic at her job and always goes the extra mile.. what ever request i had she was able to meet it. It was sad when we all had to leave to go home but it was defo a 12 out of 10 here, we loved it.
Ok the beach ISNT like you get in Antigua but still its very clean and the pools are lovely.
Would we return here? FOR SURE! when were due an anniversary we are soo going back.

“Awesome Vacation”

Coconut Bay Resort & Spa

We stayed at Coconut Bay from June 9-16,2008. Do not listen to all the bad reviews. It is a solid 4 star hotel. The hotel is older but there are many friendly staff to look after you during your stay. The food was good, drinks cold, and the weather was amazing. We used the spa which is comparable to the ones at home. Would recommend going on the jeep safari of the island. It ended up being a 12 hour day, but we saw all of the beautiful island of St. Lucia.

Would go back in a heartbeat.

“Do not go!!”

I went to coco bay in may 2008 with my partner and baby. we went to get married over there hoping for a wedding in paradise, How wrong we were!

It started off great the first week was idylic, the hotel was on the whole very nice although the rooms were a bit basic.
Althopugh when we saw the wedding coordinator on the second day we were upset to learn we couldnt have our wedding on the beach which is what we'd hoped for.

And things just went downhill from there. The wedding service was lovely but after 2 hours of photographs after the wedding we sat down to get a well deserved drink when we were informed that all our pictures had been lost! the apparent professional photo shop had used a new memory card which had not even been checked and wll the pics of our special day were gone.

They told us not to worry that we could stage it all again but didnt understand why i was in tears because staged pictures would never capture the moment that we had on that day.

Eventually we heard news that they had sent the card to the capital and had eventually managed to get our pictures babck which was great untill they made us feel responsible for having to pay extra money for new software.

So after all the polava with the pictures we thought we could mayber enjoy the rest of our stay, the so called honeymoon period. But wrong again!!

Another couple who had been married the day after us were talking to us and we found out they hadnt received their marriage certificate or passports (which the hotel keep from the 2nd day till the day after the wedding and then leave with the bell boys to deposit on the end of your bed) the police were called into the hotel and the doocuments were no where to be found.

untill two days later when we were looking for our documents and couldnt find them, we tipped the room upside down and found them hidden in a pile of clothes along with the documents of the other party. we took them to the family of the married party who had left the hotel and the poice were called back in.

it turned out that the cleaners had been in the rooms a number of times in the days previous and that they had a part in not only takin the documents but then hiding them and staging it as if it was all an accident.

If it hadnt been for some lovely families we met out there and the amazing bar staff Crazy Charlie and Big Ted who were lovely and little Jason i would have been quite happy to leave the hotel on the wedding day.

i would seriously consider your choices before going to this hotel especially if it is for your wedding we thought it was paradise.

How wrong we were

ok....i'll give u it frm the beggining to thee end when we arrived at the hotel by a private taxi we immediately located the front desk an approached it we were greeted by the agents with champagne an cold towells which she insisted on us takin them....we went through the process of being checked in and when we were done i was hoping for a bellman to come take us to our rooms along side our luggage but the young lady looked me in the eyes an pointed to the right and started giving directions as if we were lost but we went along an after about 10 minutes of searching {luckly} we found our room the ac was working fine an the room looked cleaned but there was no fridge in the room,as i was expecting one with atleast a selection of sodas like i've experience in other hotels in the same category anyways we were hungry and went out to find a restaurant that was open to grab a bite.....everywhere else was closed but the grill rest which is only fast food with one menu that never changes imprinted on the wall,we order the mixxed leaf salad ,a burger, the chicken wings and the ham pinini the burger was as tiny as a mini cocktail burger a kid would eat it in 3 bites the salad was not fresh the pinini only has ham cheese an the buns...nothing else, the chicken was cold an tasted awfull as if it was left overs from the night before the softdrinks was flat an not cold enough and the food came in cheap plactic plates which you would have to hold on to the whole time cause the atlantic breeze will spill it all over the restaurant floor, you get better burgers at the burger plus restaurant in the main town and thee other fast food restaurants, the beef is as thin as the slice of tomoto an there's no pickles only lettuice and tomato you'd have to eat 3 double burgers to fell like you ate one and if you want ketchup you will have to steal if off someones table...but we didnt let that put us down we decided to try the pools as there was so many of them to choose from but none of them are being cleaned daily loaded with sand in the bottom and leaves floating on top,... dosent look good at all not one unbrella near the pools so you're going to get a tan whether or not you like it!,....the facility needs a make over especially the pools the paint is pilling off the iron thats supose to be chromed is filled with rust we called the front desk to find out about the restaurants and their bookings and the young lady said to me that we won't be able to dine at either of the two restaurants that requires reservation cause its booked every night an you will have to booked 1 night in advanced so we went down to the front desk to book for the following night and she pointed us across to the guy at reservations to book...when we went to him before we could say anything he jus said we can just show up for dinner and we will get in any of the restaurants just after the young lady just said to us we wont be able to get in until tomorow night ,so we just went up at around 8pm to the chinesse restaurant, we were expecting a fool busy restaurant but when we arrived their, there was only 2 tables occupied, we were greeted and was sat at a table and a lady came to us and poured ice water and offered us a glass of wine which was only 2 options a red or white chardonny or merlot nothing else.....if we wanted somthing else we'd have to pay for it....so we took the chardonny which was not even properly chilled,... i ordered the chicken wings appitizer and my partner ordered the same as well and i ordered the beef with green peppers and my partner ordered the sweet and sour chicken , the appitizer was ok but the main course was awfull i loaded mine with salt and pepper to make it taste better but my partner couldnt continue her meal so we left and went down to the buffet and got somthing better and and luckly we found some food still left their cause if you're late for the buffet you wont get anything much cause it clears out so quickly ...long before closing time....and not enough desert choices only cakes and pies....we also tried the caribbean buffet and this time the food was ok but there's not enough choices...and did i forget...there's no room service so if ure hoping to get a late night snack then keep dreaming the lattest restaurant is up until 1am and thats the fast food where the food sucks their!coconutbay needs to close down, renovate get new management and staff that can do their work and start all over again! cause i wont look to come their anytime soon or recommend to a friend..well only after these changes goes into effect!.........
