“Great and affordable”

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn

4 of 5 stars
Dallas, Texas
Feb 25, 2008

This place was exactly what was expected. It was an affordable, clean, well-maintained retreat. Do not expect anything fancy or full service. But do expect a quiet and relaxing time. All rooms have an ocean view that is wonderful and you are a short walk from the official Luquillo beach. There is also a great sun deck where you can sit back and relax. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. They give you a nice packet at check-in to help guide you through the areas. Try Guavas for an evening drink (2 minute walk) and you must eat at La Parilla kiosko #3. The food there is unbelievable--service is terrible but worth the wait.

I highly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I had connecting flight troubles and checked in quite late -not a problem at Luquillo. We needed to spend some time the next day researching Fajardo-area attractions on the Internet and making reservations, not a problem with the available kiosk PC. While we did this, we were hungry. Again, not a problem with the complimentary cooked breakfast and continental fruit and pastries available. The view from the breakfast patio and entire ocean side is great. The owner and care-takers are very helpful and friendly; the rooms were clean, tidy and offered everything we needed. The room rates were very competitive as well.
We'll stay here again if/when we come back!

“Beautiful View, great Value”

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn

5 of 5 stars
Chapel Hill, NC
Feb 9, 2008

I stayed 2 nights at the Luquillo Beach Sunrise Hotel with my boyfriend and another couple. This hotel is an excellent value. You have a wonderful view of the surfer's beach with nice balconies and a very pleasant room. The hotel itself is located across the street from the beach. The neighborhood surrounding it is a little shabby and poor, but the security at the hotel is fine, so I felt perfectly safe. The beds were comfortable, but made a lot of loud, squeaky noises whenver someone moved (I think it was the hardwood platform for the bed).

They serve both a continental breakfast (lots of coffee, fruit and breads), as well as a cooked special every morning. This is very pleasant because it is out on their patio overlooking the ocean. They have a public area with lots of information about things to do in the area, as well as a computer with internet access that you can use at no charge. You sometimes had to wait in line while another guest checked the basketball scores back home, but it was nice to have that easy access.

This hotel is ideally located if you want to explore El Yunque and Luquillo beach. We ate at a lovely restaurant at the nearby food kiosks that the staff at the hotel recommended. Go to kiosk #2 (La Parilla). It is a sit down restaurant with a view of the beach with great food (more upscale than the other kiosks). We enjoyed the wait staff there because they were so enthusiastic about describing the food. They had great seafood specials and had many traditional Puerto Rican dishes, like mofongo (mashed plantains) and rice and beans. I highly recommend it.

“Quiet location for diverse Puerto Rican Experience”

This bed and breakfast is very charming, and overlooks the ocean on the north shore of Puerto Rico in the quiet town of Luquillo.

The rooms are very clean are recently remodeled. Rooms overlook the ocean and have digital cable if you require that. The hot breakfast is mediocre, but the experience of talking to the staff and other guests is worthwhile. We recommend going to a bakery across from the town square for a local breakfast; and visit the nearby Kiosks for local fare at lunch/dinner.

The staff is very friendly and happy to share tips with travelers as common with most bed and breakfasts. They also helped book tours; and gave tips of things to do and places to eat.

Things to do nearby include a bio bay; and El Yunque Rain Forest. Both are worth seeing. Beyond that, we did not find much else in terms of activities in the area.

    • Liked — Clean Rooms and not overly crowded location
    • Disliked — Parts of town surrounding property were unkept.

“Great Bed and Breakfast”

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn

5 of 5 stars
Kaukauna, Wisconsin

We stayed 5 nights at the Luquillo sunrise. The Inn was right across the road from a great beach. You could walk forever in either direction. The sunrises were beautiful. Our room on the 3rd floor was great. We had a balcony and everything was very clean. My only complaint was the bed, very hard and squeaky. We were minutes away from Fajaro, El Yunque, and the Nature reserve. We went to El Yunque, the Nature reserve (make reservations before you leave home), Vieques, and the bioluminescent bay. We recommend all of them. We booked the Bio Bay tour through the inn. We also took surfing lessons with Bobby. Very fun and affordable. The breakfasts at the inn were the best, enough variety for everyone and good coffee also.
