“Great location in this fantastic town”

Il Giglio Hotel and Restaurant

Sep 26, 2007

Located right in the centre of this lovely town Montalcino (home of Brunello wines) which has excellent restaurants and bars. We had room no 1 which is the only room with a balcony - need to book early and it's definitely worth the extra. Breakfast is not included but if you do have it there have the Torte di Mele - fabulous! The hotel also has its own free parking, which they will do for you if you like, or if you prefer to park your own, that's fine too - the streets are tight but a 4x4 will get through carefully!

“We are in love!!!”

Il Giglio Hotel and Restaurant

Aug 25, 2007

Myself and my husband hired a car from Rome and traveled to Montalcino. It is the most beautiful Tuscan town perched on mountain edge. Upon arrival we were greeted and were able to check in straight away. Our Rent-a-Car was taken care of for us and parked in the hotels sercure car parking area (this was free of charge). Our room was very clean and had amazing views. The hotel is well located in town and it is very easy to walk around the township. Breakfast was also included which was a choice of either a Western Continental or a European breakfast. The service was fantastic and very fast. The food in the area is fantastic! And also make sure you try the Brunello wine! Just around the corner of the hotel and up the hill is a great bottle shop which sells some great wine - the lady there is also great for advising on places to eat. All in all - a fantastic place to stay and a beautiful town to visit. We are in love! Thank you for your hospitality.

“Feel in love with Tuscany and Il Giglio”

Il Giglio Hotel and Restaurant

The hotel was simple and lovely. We stayed for three nights and really enjoyed every minute. The owners were friendly and were so proud of all of our wine purchases in Chianti but more so of those in Montalcino. He gave us a map and told us which places had wine tastings and were the best. The Tuscan breakfast plate was wonderful - cured meats and Tuscan cheeses.

The view from the room and dining room were amazing. Room 1 has a terrace but it was fully booked.

“Great Views”

Il Giglio Hotel and Restaurant

We spent one night in Montalcino at the Il Giglio Hotel. It is a charming small hotel with fantastic views if you get a room on the back side of the hotel. The rooms are well appointed (flat screen TV, minibar, etc.) and very comfortable. It was amazing to take a bath with the window open and look out over the Tuscan countryside. The hotel owners, MIchele and his father, were very nice. We had a VERY large rental car ( a Volvo SUV!) and it was difficult to park it anywhere. They took the keys and parked it for us. I would highly recommend this hotel for the terrific setting and good value (our room was 100 Euros for a double and our son had a single for 70 Euros.
