“Nice location, clean room”

We stayed here March 10-16, 2007 in room 1520 which was an ocean view room on the side of the building facing the Sheraton. We had booked a partial ocean view room and they offered us an upgrade to an ocean view room for $45/ night. The rooms were large and clean, the bathroom was large with a large walk-in closet. Because we were on a high floor and away from the street, our room was very quiet. We did hear the people next door through the walls, but we must have been on similar schedules because they did not wake us up or keep us awake.

The shower was great (hot, good pressure) but it was a very small tub which could be a negative for those who like to take baths. The toiletries in the bathroom were nice and smelled very Hawaiian (floral) so if you don't like scents like that, bring your own.

Positives: Free calls, in-room safe large enough for laptop, free fitness center, business center for use with credit card, fridge, coffeemaker with coffee that is replenished daily.

Negatives: Beds were too soft and I felt I could feel every spring in the mattress.

The pool area was always full, but we usually got a chair. Pai's deli was nice to grab a sandwich or quick breakfast. The ABC store across the street also had sushi and noodles and fruit for take out for a light meal. We never ate at any of the restaurants as there were many interesting restaurants within walking distance. Try Mika Won (very authentic Korean) behind the International Market.

“Great location on Waikiki!”

Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach

We stayed at Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach from March 7-13. Our room was on the 8th floor, Diamond Head side, "ocean view" category. Room was spacious with king size bed, couch (with hide-a-bed), and a desk. View from lanai was great. My only complaint is that walls between rooms were pretty thin. We just ran a/c or fan to block out noise if it was bothering us. Most nights we left door to lanai open to hear the waves.

Breakfast buffet at Dukes was fine. Cooked-to-order omelets and eggs, fruit, cereal, pancakes/waffles, etc. Enough choices for even the pickiest eaters.

Beach was great, although busy, just like any beach near a large city. Most days we just put our towels on the sand. One day we rented lounge chairs and an umbrella for about $40, which was nice since we could come and go all day. We also rented surfboards a few days. It is a great area for beginning surfers since the waves aren't too big.

The location of the hotel is perfect, right in the middle of Waikiki. There are tons of restaurants within walking distance, from fast food to fine dining. Compared to other places we've been to in Hawaii, food was more expensive in Waikiki. There is an ABC Store right across the street were you can buy snacks, fruit, soda, booze, etc for reasonable prices.

We loved Waikiki/Honolulu...all the amenities of a city right next to a great beach.

Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach

My wife and I stayed here at the start of February for 14 nights as 1st time Hawaiin's. From the day we left we wanted to plan our next trip.

Great location, right in the middle of everything and we found the staff to be a breath of fresh air and what a view.

We stayed in an Ocean Front room and to be honest, the view of the beach below and the beautiful sunsets were amazing and pretty important.

Cannot comment on other room categories, but I suppose you get what you pay for.

The food at either restaurant was great and breakfast buffet was superb.

Recommendation - Ask for a room above the 6th floor (noise from the bars below) and stay in an ocean view or Ocean Front Room.

We loved it!

“Wonderful hotel!”

We used TripAdvisor to guide us in our hotel choices in Oahu, and both were great!! (the other was the Turtle Bay Resort). The Outrigger Waikiki is elegant, well-equipped, friendly staff, nice rooms, even a small "ocean view" in a room quoted as "city view". The particular stretch of beach is perfect for swimming and the water was a beautiful pale aqua and warm in early March! My only suggestion would be umbrellas at the pool (currently there are none, and the beach umbrellas come with a fee.)

“Great Beach Hotel”

Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach

The Waikiki Outrigger on the Beach is a great place to stay if you're looking for something on Waikiki beach. The rooms were spacious. The service by the front desk, restaurant and activities booking desk were all very good. The restaurant (Dukes) is a very popular restaurant and right on the beach, so expect to wait at peak times. They have a nice breakfast buffet.

The pool is not overly large. It's also salt water. Nothing wrong with salt water, just a surprise when you first jump in. There's towel service and bar service at the pool.

Waikiki beach is rather narrow. It's also very crowded. We did find a place right adjacent to the hotel where we were able to book an outrigger canoe ride (just like in the opening scenes of Hawaii 5-O) and our daughters were able to take surfing lessons.

The hotel is located in the area where all of the expensive shops are located. Very touristy, but still very nice. Lots of restaurants, shops and activities within walking distance. It's only a 10 minute walk to the Honolulu Zoo and the Honolulu Aquarium.

We would definitely stay here again if we were in Waikiki.
