“Pleasantly Surprised”

Hampton Inn Buffalo Airport

4 of 5 stars
Toronto, Canada
Nov 6, 2006

I don't often stay at chain hotels, but we needed somewhere close to the Galleria and to the football stadium as we were spending Sat shopping and Sunday tailgating and cheering. By the time we booked this, Hampton was one of the few places with the availability we needed. My expectations weren't high.
Check-in was delightful - the two women at recepetion were funny and welcoming. Our room was spacious, the bathroom bigger than my own and the shower was good. Bed was comfortable, there was a very nice lounge chair and more than enough storage space for our things. I was impressed by a sign informing us that if we had forgotten any of our toiletries, the hotel could supply them free of charge. Breakfast was more than muffins and coffee - hot options, fruit, oatmeal, plenty of juices. Something for everyone.
The BBQ restaurant in front of the hotel was fantastic. Definitely suggest trying it out.
I would recommend this as an airport hotel or a shopping hotel without hesitation.

“Great hotel for the price”

I am a big fan of the Hampton Inn. Some of the earlier reviews made me a little concerned about staying here. I shouldn't have worried. Our stay was great. Check in was easy and the staff were friendly. The place was fully booked (due to a Bills football game). First of all the location....across the road from Target, quick 2 minute drive from Walden Galleria and reasonably close to Downtown (in a car - doesn't seem to be the kind of area where people walk around much). Loads of parking (free) and a McDonald's on same lot. Olive Garden, IHOP and other chain restaurants nearby. Free airport shuttle. We heard the airplanes during the day but our night was quiet and uneventful. Wireless Internet.

These beds are great - felt like I was in a Westin Heavenly Bed...

Breakfast was great and plentiful and they have a large LCD screen in the breakfast room - some men were watching a football game in the evening.

A wonderful laid back place - I will stay again.

“Beautiful Hotel, Friendly Staff!”

I cannot say enough about this hotel! They recently rennovated the hotel and they did a great job. They have brand new comfortable beds, which are like sleeping on a cloud and you don' t have to be afraid of bed bugs in this place! Cleanliness... Oh my how clean! They have WHITE bedspreads so I was pretty comfortable with the level of cleaning that has to be done to this place to have white! The bathroom was very clean. I can't say enough about the wonderful job housekeeping does, and they are SO friendly! The room has ironing board, iron, small table and chairs, dresser, armoire, and a big flat screen TV.
There is coffee, tea, and hot chocolate (which the kids LOVED!) in the lobby 24 hrs. The complimentary breakfast was very nice with an adequated variety and very well stocked.
The pool / fitness area was exceptional. Pool and jaccuzzi were very clean and well maintained. Plenty of towels also in the pool area. There are very nice and plenty of tables & chairs, as well as lounges. Lots of room for the kids to play in the pool area.
There is a McDonalds in the parking lot of the hotel and they are building another resturant but I'm not sure what it is. There is also a mini mall across the street that has some food places, I don't remember what all stores are there but there is Target and Payless Shoes.
The Walden Galleria is maybe a mile across the road, which everyone seems to make a big deal about it being there. Oh, forgot to mention that just b/c it says airport doesn't mean you hear the airport! Nice and quiet! I think we heard an airplane once throughout the entire weekend stay.
The only negative thing I have to report is the size of our room. I don't know if all rooms are the same size but there were 2 double beds and everything mentioned above in the room and there was walking space only in the room. We put our bags under the table b/c everywhere else they were in the way! So if you are traveling with small children who need to have space to roam, you might want to ask if there are any larger rooms other than the 2 doubles.
Finally, I think for this being in the city of Buffalo (we are small town people!) the location of the hotel seemed pretty safe. It's not downtown, so I didn't feel apprehensive being out in the dark at all.

Hampton Inn Buffalo Airport

Disappointing stay in a nice hotel. Tried to check in about 1 pm after requsting early check-in. Staff barely acknowledged us and told us to check again in 30 min. After 45 min or so went to the desk and asked if a room was available. Staff member never did answer but made a few calls as we were standing there and after another 10 minutes gave us a handicapped room on the main floor with a lumpy (supposed to be new!) double (supposed to be king) bed. We did not require a handicapped room but clearly they just wanted us to be checked in. Room was very noisy - close to a plant and on the path of planes coming and going to the airport. Clearly for business travellers - many regulars at breakfast. Beautiful pool area/nice breakfast.

“Pretty Bad”

Hampton Inn Buffalo Airport

I arrived late on Friday, August 11 - very late. The staff "allowed" me to interrupt their conversation to check in. I was tired after having a rough travel day with the new airline delays after the terror incident. The stench of clorine was awful when I came in. The elevator was filthy, trash on the floor with bath towels in a corner and grafitti on the walls AND very worn. The room was freezing when I walked in - the temperature was set at 66. Took a long time to warm up. The bed was fine - the bed linens were good. There was awful lighting in the bathroom; the ironing board was so crooked I could not place the iron on it without it falling. The towels were worn and the soaps and shampoo were missing. Fortunately, I rarely use hotel items unless I forget mine. There was a lot of noise in the halls for 11:00 p.m., but I slept well - I was exhausted. I would not stay again when I could go to the Hilton Garden Inn across from the airport, which I stayed at the following evening, for $10.00 dollars more and the difference between night and day.
