“Great location- Superb business/conference Site”

The Westin Riverwalk

Jun 19, 2008

Stayed here for 4 nights. We hosted out top salespeople at a "mini-conference". Picked San Antonio for its "middle-of-the-country" location since we had folks flying in from all over. The hotel staff are great- they went out of their way to make us feel welcome & kept the meeting rooms clean and stocked. We had excellent hotel-provided lunches and a dinner on arrival night. Did a tex-mex theme. Some of the best chili I've ever had. The Riverwalk is right outside - but it's the quiet end. Only a 5 minute walk to the restaurants. Very large flat screen TV in room and "Heavenly" bed. Gym had headphones, personal TV's, only one cross trainer and several treadmills and bikes, some newer model weight machines and a small selection of free weights. I would definitely say the location and the "public places" in the hotel (verandas, lobbies, meeting rooms , restaurants inside and out) - make this hotel special. The staff makes it great. Small outdoor pool and sunning area that really didn't get the sun until after 11 AM.

“good spot, but room to improve”

We stayed 4 nights in late May/early June. The location is primo. The property is just a little bit away from the most busy part of the Riverwalk, but you walk only five minutes along the water to reach the heart of it. Perfect for getting away from the crowds and enjoying the sculpted, landscaped pathways.

Because they had availability, we were upgraded upon check-in to a riverfront room, though from the 9th floor the view was more onto the top of a parking deck across the water (the river is very narrow). Check-in was pleasant, and the lobby has inviting places to sit inside and out and enjoy the afternoon refreshments. A pleasant pool (modestly sized) is on the rooftop of part of the building.

There is an attractive restaurant on the Riverwalk itself, though we did not partake. There is also a bakery counter, an exercise room, a large bar, and hotel-wide wireless internet.

Because this is a Westin, of course the beds and showers are "heavenly" (registered trademark!). The decor in the room is contemporary but bland.

But because this is a Westin, I would have hoped for better, more organized housekeeping. We returned to our room to find bottles of bathroom cleaner on the counter. No replacement toilet paper. The neighbors' room service breakfast leftovers in the hall until late bedtime. And the carpet in our room had various big, black stains.

So I'd say that while we enjoyed the hotel, for this price I will consider shopping around among other properties when we return to San Antonio.

“Loved this place!”

The Westin Riverwalk

I found the Westin Riverwalk to be a great choice for San Antonio! It is in a great location in that it is located on the quiet and beautiful side of the Riverwalk, but within a block or so walk of all of the restaurants and shops along the more touristy portion of the river walk. Found a deal for a junior suite with riverwalk view and I would highly recommend it!! Large room, large bathroon, flat screen, 2 small balconies. Also stayed in a regular room which was street or city side and found this to be a little loud with cars and trucks. So, regardless of room I'd recommend river view for a more relaxed stay. Hotel clean and friendly. Pool area is a little small, but still nice. I thought it was a great hotel. Great atmosphere to relax and unwind, but easy to walk anywhere you want to go. Would stay here again in heart beat. Look for junior suite deals....nice upgrade.

“Great Hotel”

The Westin Riverwalk

5 of 5 stars
Dallas, Texas
Jun 5, 2008

This is my favorite hotel on the riverwalk. The hotel is amazing and the service is great. The back of the hotel is facing the riverwalk and there is a pick up station for the river cruise. I went to a bar/louge right up the street called "Oyster Bar" and the service and drinks there were great too. fun times.

Peace out from Dallas.

“perfectly wonderful stay”

The Westin has it all: gorgeous property, great location, beautiful and very comfortable rooms and beds, yet they go over the top on service, there is no reason for me to ever stay anywhere else in San Antonio. It is so refreshing to be treated like royalty, even when travelling with kids! We enjoyed every moment of our stay, beginning with the delicious and complimentary "merienda" in the lobby when we checked in and continuing with the time we spent decompressing at the pool while the kids played and the air was filled with the scent of honeysuckle. The beds were indeed heavenly and the bathroom very nice. The breakfast buffet was beautifully presented and impeccably fresh and you have your choice of indoor seating or al fresco right on the riverwalk. Just writing this review makes me want to return for another visit, maybe next weekend!! I very highly recommend the Westin, we really enjoyed the perfect stay.
