The Westin has it all: gorgeous property, great location, beautiful and very comfortable rooms and beds, yet they go over the top on service, there is no reason for me to ever stay anywhere else in San Antonio. It is so refreshing to be treated like royalty, even when travelling with kids! We enjoyed every moment of our stay, beginning with the delicious and complimentary "merienda" in the lobby when we checked in and continuing with the time we spent decompressing at the pool while the kids played and the air was filled with the scent of honeysuckle. The beds were indeed heavenly and the bathroom very nice. The breakfast buffet was beautifully presented and impeccably fresh and you have your choice of indoor seating or al fresco right on the riverwalk. Just writing this review makes me want to return for another visit, maybe next weekend!! I very highly recommend the Westin, we really enjoyed the perfect stay.

I stay at the Westin Riverwalk over 10 times in the 12 months. Overall, a beautiful hotel with great ambience. I just love the Riverwalk area and you can walk to the restaurants from the hotel in a few minutes. Here is what I love about the hotel: the location, the great rooms (typical 4 star for spg), complementary afternoon snack and drinks during the week (the watermelon juice is great) . Service, I must say, is below average. You MUST check your bills - as almost 100% of the time, I get charged or water bottles that are supposed to be complementary for Gold preferred members. I also get charged for the mini bar which I did not use. This happens without fail each and every stay. They have now supposedly flagged my account, to prevent this from occurring again. I learned to check the bills and call to correct. Their 'Express Service' is rarely express. Takes forever to get anything. One time, I asked for hot water, it took 2 hours. The other time, I asked to clean my room in the afternoon on a weekend, it took probably 2 hours for them to come (and only after I called for about 3 times). I asked for slippers, they always run out. They also run out of tooth paste sometimes. Overall, Service Express is unsatisfactory. I find Westin La Cantera to have better Service and of course, their pools and hot tub are awesome and open 24 hours. The Westin Riverwalk has a small heated pool that closes at 10pm and they don't have a hot tub. Unless you want to be in the Riverwalk area, I would say La Cantera will be a better choice if you like the pools and the view of the hills. Also, as a side note, Marriott Northwest has the best service. The front desk know you by your last name and service is quick.

I booked a room months in advance and had reserved a River-View room. When I arrived I was told there were no River-View rooms available. Luckily I had thought to print out my email confirmation and bring it with me. The desk clerk was curt and not at all friendly. She went to the back to consult with management then came out and proceeded to check in other guest. Finally a man came from the back with my email in hand and I heard him say “Give her what she wants”. No acknowledgment or eye contact or apology for the hassle. I did get what I wanted and at the price that was quoted but I doubt I would ever stay there again. On the upside, the room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. But belive me, they aren’t kidding about the bottle of water bedside with the note “Enjoy this refreshment and a $5.00 charge will be added to your room bill”. It was just water. I mean ,COME ON ! At over $200 per night and they can't spring for a bottle of water for their guest? That is a good indication of where the focus lies. It sure left a bad taste in my mouth. There are too many other hotels nearby that will get my business next time.

The Westin Riverwalk is a very attractive, comfortable hotel. My room was spacious, and had an excellent bed and a nice bathroom. The furniture was solid and attractive. The exercise room was small but well equipped. The location is convenient to the convention center and is right on the river. I would happily stay there again.
