“Loved the Hyatt”

We found a great rate here thru Travelzoo which included a $50/nt. resort credit. Good thing too, as the restaurant (Antler's lodge), was very good but pricey. This resort is a great place to relax and unwind. There are multiple pools ,a lazy river, and 3 outdoor hot tubs, 2 with waterfalls. We had a nice room with a balcony overlooking the pool. The bedding was really comfortable, and their were nice amenities in the bathroom. The lobby area was nice, with 2 huge fireplaces which they had going in the early morning. My husband took a golf lesson and golfed 1 day, which he enjoyed. My friend had a massage at the spa, which she liked as well. To make up for booking her spa treatment at the wrong time, they let me use the spa facilities for free, which are a private pool and hot tub, an indoor hot tub, steam and sauna rooms, and juice bar. We lucked out with temps in the high 70's, low 80's for the end of Feb., so were able to enjoy the outdoor facilities.

“Wonderful staff”

I travel often for business and have never come across a nicer, more accommodating staff. Every member of the staff was friendly and concerned about our comfort, they were wonderful.
Everything else was great too, good size rooms, didn't hear the neighbors, great stay!

“Good option for families”

Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa

I had pretty high hopes for this hotel, which we visited over Christmas with our two young children. I was a bit disappointed. The staff was hit or miss. A few stood out as exceptional, noting my child’s name and offering personalized service to us. But most were mediocre at best. I was especially disappointed by the sullen teenagers that were supposed to be childcare. I almost laughed at the boy in charge of the s’mores because he looked so bored and teen-angsty. We were there over a holiday weekend so maybe the regular staff offers better service.

That said, the place itself was nice, but not really luxurious. This is fine if you are traveling with toddlers who might mess it up! We did try out the rambling river in 50 degree weather and it was invigorating! The food was fine. We went to their Christmas buffet and it was good. I also had a great massage at the spa which I would highly recommend. Bottom line is that I wasn’t wowed by the whole experience but it was nice enough. Hence my title, good option, not great option, for families. I have been to other resorts where they tried harder to make both parents and children feel pampered, and I prefer those places.

    • Liked — The hotel was setup like a big family home with lots of nice common areas
    • Disliked — They didn't really have that much for younger children to do

“Stayed at the Hyatt Hill Country over Christmas”

My family all met at the Hyatt Hill Country over Christmas. It was nice to be there without the crowds. The kids had a great time with the s'mores, hayrides, bikes, and heated pool.

My only complaint was the wallpaper in the bathroom. It's white, and so dirty. There were streaks of blood in various places. I don't suggest hanging your towel on the hook!!! Yuck.

“Best place ever!!”

Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa

Dec 5, 2006

This was the best place I've ever stayed. We stayed during the first part of Thanksgiving week so there were not a lot of people there and I was able to get a great rate on Hotwire. Of course, the lazy river was too cold to enjoy, but the kids still had a blast. You can check out bikes to ride around the resort. Since it was low traffic time we were able to keep them the whole day. We even put off Sea World a day just to stay and enjoy the resort. Our kids didn't even watch tv or play games either. It was wonderful! I also endulged with a Mud Wrap at the Spa. It was worth every cent. You can go early and enjoy the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as well. I'd go every year if I could get the same price. The going rate is a little over our heads though.
