Price a bit high $143 for accomodations however it was St. Patricks W/E. Location is 5-8 blocks from Riverwalk area. Easy walk or Trolley acess. Staff friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was adequate. Room clean, bathroom small. Parking on adjacent property $8-16 daily. Overall a very good weekend with a lot of festivities. Be sure to check out Market Square two blocks east on Commerce.

Stayed March 20, 2008 in King room. Top floor. There are no great views, and the rooms are a bit small, especially squeezing a King bed in it. Not so great if you want to spend a lot of time hanging out in your room. Just the one chair at the desk, no others. But in SA there's SO much to do, you should not be in your hotel room!
The staff are nice and it was clean, and a very comfortable bed, and very quiet rooms, and we enjoyed the history of the place! (it used to be a jail).
The free breakfast included waffles and plenty of pastries and cereal. It was crowded in the eating area but it was Friday the beginning of Easter weekend so we weren't surprised.
Parking was $8/night for a lot across the street. To park next to the hotel was $16.
Hotel is within walking distance of the Market Square where they have very good mexican restaurants! And even the Riverwalk is just a few blocks away, and the Alamo. There is also the trolley (need exact change for the $1 ride) across the street to take you down by the RiverCenter, Riverwalk & Alamo. and all around downtown. Very easy access to all the fun things.

We just returned from a visit to San Antonio TX. We stayed at the Comfort Inn Alamo/Riverwalk and had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was excellent and the location was great. It is within walking distance (several blocks) to the Alamo and the Riverwalk. This hotel is not as pricey as other hotels closer to downtown. Parking is ample, although across the street and the price for parking is $8 to $16. The desk clerk, Destiny, was an excellent employee and made us feel right at home. I would stay at this location again due to the good rates, excellent staff, and great location in San Antonio.

We stayed here for Spring Break 2008. Our room was a Suite (202). Large room, walls were thick (former jail) so outside sound was minimal. Staff very friendly and helpful. Morning breakfast was OK, Texas shaped waffles were a hit with the kids, but dining area too small. Parking off site ($8) had no attendant but we had no issues. Onsite parking ($16) is limited so reserve early. I would recommend this hotel for folks looking for a cheaper alternative to the Riverwalk hotels. Location was midway between Riverwalk area and Merchant square. No other hotels nearby. We had no safety issues but rundown buildings and graffiti don't give much comfort. The latest we stayed out was 10:30pm, there were still plenty of tourists on the streets so we felt safe. I'd probably take a taxi if it was after midnight.
Merchant square had a street festival going on, looked like mostly locals having lots of fun. We ate at Mi Tierra but the waiter's lack of service dampened our enthusiasm for the place.
