“Very Nice Experience”

Riverwalk Vista

5 of 5 stars
Albany, NY
Jul 7, 2008

The location was perfect for our needs. It is two blocks from the convention center where we were attending a conference. It is literally across the street from the River Walk and about a block or so from the Alamo. It was easy to catch trolleys to travel around the city.

The hotel itself was just as advertised. Large rooms, great views, and very comfortable. Fresh baked cookies at 3:00 and a glass of wine at 5:00 fit in nicely with our daily schedule. Complimentary breakfast each morning was great. We met a lot of nice people from around the country during breakfasts.

There was some noise at night from the River Walk establishments, but we knew beforehand and it was worth it to be near the fun activities. By no means did the noise bother us or interrupt our sleep.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to accomodate any needs or requests.

There was even an umbrella in the room which came in handy because of several thunderstorms during our stay.

Compared to the bland, generic chain hotels that most of our conference colleagues stayed at, we felt that the Riverwalk Vista was good bargain, especially when we heard that the other hotels were charging $18 for a basic breakfast buffet that didn't sound much different from our free breakfasts.

“Great Inn”

Riverwalk Vista

4 of 5 stars
Saint Augustine, Florida
Jul 1, 2008

This was a nice quiet inn right across the street from the riverwalk. The rooms were very nice and clean, the bathrooms were large and beautiful. I much prefer to stay in a small inn like this one, than a large hotel. The breakfast had a nice selection of fresh fruit, some sweet bread, sausage in a bread shell, boiled eggs. There were several things that made the stay not as nice as it could have been. First, as other reviewers have said, the arrival and unloading of the car was not the greatest. I was prepared for this, I thought. There were no spaces available in the unloading area for the restaurant next door, where you were supposed to stop and unload. Another couple were traveling with us, so one of the men got out and helped us get the bags out of the car and onto the sidewalk. Then while my husband and friend went across the street to find where we were supposed to park, my friend and I lugged the luggage up the flight of stairs, to the landing, in the summer heat to get them off the sidewalk. Not a nice way to start your stay. When we got up to the floor to check in, the innkeeper invited us to have lemonade and cookies. There were 4 of us, 2 glasses for the lemonade and 3 cookies. She didn't seem to notice the shortfall. Anything we asked about, she wasn't a big help. I asked about a map for the trolley and she said that was their most popular map and they were out. You would think if it was the most popular, they would keep a supply. I would stay here again, the service just wasn't what I expected. We did have one riverwalk view room and it was quiet, no problem with road noise. This was a weeknight, so maybe that helped.

“Met and Surpassed All Our Expectations!”

Riverwalk Vista

5 of 5 stars
Granbury, Texas

There are a number of negative reviews for the size of the rooms, the traffic noise and parking issues . . . all of which my wife and I believe are incredibly petty!

If you are looking to host an event in your room then don't look elsewhere . . . if you are looking for a room with all the appropriate charm of an older building with all the necessities of modern living then this is the place for you! From the hardwood floors to the oversized windows, the Riverwalk exemplified charm. The guest robes and HUGE shower made comfort an easy commodity to come by . . .

If a truck rolling by a 6:30 AM disturbs your sleep so much that you feel the need to rave all afternoon to anyone who will listen . . . don't try to sleep here! However, we have traveled all over the world and if someone thinks a truck is loud trying a bunch of drunken Scotts banging a drum and singing at the top of their lungs every day at 2:30 AM!! This hotel is centrally located and you will hear traffic! I sleep extremely lightly, however, and still had no issues going back to sleep without using any of the noise cancellation devices provided by the hotel.

If you need valet parking and don't think you can manage the one block walk from the city garage (which is a steal at $6 a day!) then pull up to another hotel . . . in a different city! What are doing coming to San Antonio home of the famous Riverwalk??? Did you think you'd take a taxi to all the various shops and restaurants??? Get real and don't take 5 pieces of luggage. We bought all kinds of items at the Mercado. On our last day it took me three trips to the car but I didn't get any blisters . . .

Sorry for the tirade but we've been to San Antonio numerous times and always stayed at larger hotels and none of them met our expectations except for being non-descript and rather typical.

The Vista is a unique gem which caters to people who aren't looking for a cookie cutter hotel!

“Wonderful Ambiance”

Riverwalk Vista

May 21, 2008

Found this hotel on SanAntonio.com and am so glad I did. We stayed a Friday and Saturday night and loved everything about this cozy place. Upon arrival we unloaded our vehicle at the front door (yes, a little hard if the parking is not there, but I don't take forever to unload my vehicle either) and rang the intercom. The inkeeper came down to meet us and show us where to park. It took about 15 minutes to park and walk back to the hotel and when we got back inside our belongings had already been brought to our room.
One thing I enjoyed about this place was that you get very personal service. Only 17 rooms instead of the hundreds you find elsewhere. The room we had was fantastic, Aragon King, great view of the Riverwalk, high cielings, very comfortable setting and the bed was absolutely awesome. The hotel is very convenient to get to the Rivercenter Mall, Convention center, and especially the Riverwalk.
A wonderful Bed and Breakfast type Inn with Hotel ammenities. I highly recommend this hotel for couples and business travelers but not for families.

“Best Decision for place to stay!”

Riverwalk Vista

5 of 5 stars
san francisco
May 13, 2008

Not for romance only, I was on a business trip and this was a great place to check in and rest. My flt. there was a mess, after a whole day of flying, sitting on runways, etc., I got there in a rotten shape. The Innkeeper, she listened, checked me in in my room, and offered a complimentary glass of wine. She also gave me the 411 of places to eat and info on the complimentary internet connection. Plus, she arranged for my baggage to be received, YES, the airline left it behind and it was arriving at 2 AM at the Inn.

After the details were carried out, I rested in the room, they had VERY nice soaps and toiletries, relaxing herbal ones, and the bathroom had the RAIN shower head. Bathrobes were also in the room, nice since all my things were still coming. Combined with the hardwood floors, feather bed, soothing sleeper, equals a very needed rest...

Next day, complimentary breakfast was a surprised welcome too... Overall, I would say, go here... don't even ask...
