My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. This hotel is nice, but not my favorite. It is very contemporary and very dark. We prefer the Watermark hotel's design. The Valencia is a good value for a nice room. However, our room smelled like a smoking room and it was non-smoking. The bell boy told us it was the new fragrances being used to scent the rooms. The hotel is in a quiet part of the riverwalk which is nice. Don't stay here if you want a pool, there isn't one. If this is your first visit to San Antonio, I would stay elsewhere to get a true Texas experience.

Stayed here over Memorial Day weekend, 2008 - great hotel. Has a "W" kind of feel, but not loud. Check -in was a breeze, staff was friendly and helpful. Room was nicely sized, very clean; beds were GREAT, even the the faux fur comforters! Bathroom was clean, large and well lit. Loved that they had products from Lather in the bathroom. Hotel is located at the far end of the Riverwalk, so it was nice and quiet. Bit of a far walk to get to the mall, etc, but not too bad. Only complaint I would have is that it was kind of dark in the rooms, even with the shutters open during the day, but we didn't spend too much time in the room during the day so it didn't matte rmuch. Helpful hint: Parking at the hotel was probably $30 or so per night; we parked our car in a parking structure about 1 block away for the whol weekend for $12 - total steal! Would definitely stay there again...

The Hotel Valencia staff made the trip the experience that it should have been. From the valets to the bellman to the front desk to the concierge, everyone was a step above the rest. JC, the bellman, took the time to tour the hotel for both me and my wife (we arrived seperately), sparing no features either time. (Anecdotally - my wife wanted to tip, but didn't have change. She told him to keep the bill. Later that evening we had an envelope under her door with her change. He didn't knock, or want to bring attention to himself.) Joseph, the concierge, took great care of us as it was our anniversary. Got us reservations at one of the best restaurants on the Riverwalk (Boudro's) with less than 5 hours notice. And scheduled my a facial and massage for my wife the next morning without incident. It seemed everyone at Boudro's knew it was our anniversary, too.

The accommodations are very nice. The rooms are well designed and decorated. It is very charming, classy, and contemporary without being overkill on any of them. The only possible complaint would be that the bed wasn't the best hotel bed I've ever had, but nothing to shake a stick at...

For the price ($150) I paid, I don't think you can go wrong at this hotel.

To celebrate our one year anniversary, my boyfriend booked a king bedroom for the weekend at Hotel Valencia. We arrived early Friday evening and were promptly greeted by hotel valet, and once checked in- our bags were taken up to our room on the 9th floor. Before going out, we ordered the venison quesadilla- it was incredibly delicious... and large enough for two adults to share! After eating at Paesano's on the Riverwalk, we tried out V Bar at the Hotel. We were very impressed with the atmosphere, drinks, and music.
For our second day, before we arrived my boyfriend had booked two in-room massages which greeted us Saturday morning. It was a perfect way to begin our day! After spending the entire day on the Riverwalk and at the Houston Street Fair, we were exhausted! That evening we dined at the Iron Cactus and came back for seconds at the V Bar!
One thing my boyfriend noticed- they always call you by your name... a small but very noticeable detail. Overall, it was a perfect weekend! We can't wait to come back to Hotel Valencia!
