This was my second stay at the Hotel Valencia in San Antonio. Each was a business trip to a downtown client. The location is terrific -- adjacent to the Riverwalk with beautiful views of the river, and within relatively easy walking distance of most of the downtown sites, including the Alamo. The interior is dark and quiet (almost somber), because they are trying for an upscale chic look. Rooms are comfortable, but a bit eclectic in decor because of the overall look the hotel is going for. The hotel restaurant (Citrus) is a great choice for breakfast. This is a nice alternative to the large convention hotels that tend to predominate on the Riverwalk.

I loved this hotel - very well done with good attention to detail. You could drop it in NY or LA and it would hold its own.

You have to be up for a more eclectic/urban experience, but if you are Valencia will not disappoint.

On site restaurant was solid as well.

Stayed here for a work conference. I was the event planner for the entire conference and if you are planning on having a wedding here I would just try to stay on top of the hotel staff. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location!! The rooms are beautiful and confortable. I had an issue with noise. I had an "upgraded" room which just meant that I had a riverwalk view but you can hear people down on the river so it can be noisy. Food is excellent, bar is great too. The hotel is dark, very dark. And if you are planning on having an event or wedding my only warning is that the event planners at the hotel need a little hand holding. The hotel staff is fabulous but there seemed to be a lack of communication between the event planners and the actual staff. Other then that I loved my stay at this hotel and would stay here again.

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel. The location along the Riverwalk is awesome. The hotel has a chic and funky feel to it, that I would liken to a "W", if you are trying to get an idea of where you will be staying.

The rooms are clean and again, have funky yet comfortable furniture, cool lighting and an overall hip look and feel. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about the hotel, with a couple of comments about what I will do differently next time we stay:

1) Riverview rooms are NOT worth extra money. You are basically peeking through very nice plantation shutters to, depening on the floor you are on, look straight down at the water. We will ask for, and I recommend, a courtyard interior view room nex time. These each have very cool balconies that overlook a courtyard with a large fireplace and waterfall. Awesome for enjoying a bottle of wine.

2) I agree wholeheartedly with reviews saying that, should an event be planned while during your stay, in our case a wedding at the hotel, most of the restaurants and "V" bar are taken over. To be honest, we actually enjoyed the excitement and amazing decor set up for this event, and as a bonus for guests, they set up a makeshift bar in the afore mentioned courtyard, where my wife and I had drinks in front of the fireplace. So, it is up to you, potential guest, to make of it what you will.

Definitely would stay here again.
