I have to say that the Hampton Inn - Riverwalk is one of the worst Hampton Inns I've stayed at, room-wise at least. As a Hilton HHonors elite VIP member, I stay mostly at Hamptons and Hiltons, and Hampton is definitley my favorite sub-brand, offering what I feel is the best combo of features & price.
I'll start with the positives:
+ Check-in was super fast and the clerk was very professional & nice
+ There was plenty of parking, even during the busy Memorial day weekend
+ The bed, as in all Hampton Inns, was amazing and gave a great night's sleep
Unfortunately, there were more negatives than I've come to expect from Hampton Inns:
- Room was shabby, with holes in carpet and stains on the old vanity in bathroom
-A/C was extremely loud and clunky when the compressor switched on
-Poor lighting in the bathroom
-Breakfast was not that well-run - popular items kept running out and they had a hard time keeping up (even with the breakfast room 1/2 full)
For $160 paid per night, I expect more. This property can't compare to other Hampton Inns I've experienced for less money. I have to say, though, that my standards for Hamptons are very high based on past stays. If you happen to be staying here, most likely you won't hate it; however, mediocre is the name of the game.
