“A Fine Landmark Hotel Next To The Alamo”

Emily Morgan Hotel

We stayed at Emily Morgan on June 14 for 1 night. The hotel is right across the street from the Alamo, its entrance faces the Alamo's back door, maybe 10 meters away. Also an easy walk to the Riverwalk.

The hotel is located at a triangular area on the street and has a very tall tower which reminds me of a cathedral. The exterior is very impressive and easy to identify.

I like the decor of this hotel. It feels urban, yet earthy and cozy. Front desk staff was friendly. Parking was $25, valet or self-service.

Our room was great. Again, I like this kind of interior. Bed was very fluffy. I imagine it must be what sleeping in the cloud would be like.

At the first glance, everything looks very fine. Bathroom was very nicely renovated, however, with minimum signs of an old building. For example, the tiles around bath tub and the heating unit knob were not renovated. And they stood out among the harmonic new decoration.

At night, it was a little noisy at first before I fall sleep, siren etc...

We had stayed at a hotel on the Riverwalk before, location wise, I would pick that location over this.

But overall, this is a nice hotel.

“Great experience and customer service!!”

I am a teacher and took my students to visit the city of San Antonio for a 2 night stay. My students, TA, and I really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. All of our requests were met without question or hesitation. The beds were AWESOME, and our complimentary upgrade to the suite was very much appreciated! We had a great view of the Alamo and downtown areas. Many of my students have never stayed in a hotel so it was a great experience for them. We didn't dine in the hotel's restaurant / bar, but we did enjoy the room service offerings. The valets were always quick and efficient with our vehicle.

“Great stay and great location”

Emily Morgan Hotel

We had a great stay for a great price. We were going to San Antonio for a Spurs playoff game, so I used Priceline to book our stay. I got our room for $90/night.

It's right across the street from the Alamo and next to the Riverwalk. So the location is great!

The beds were amazing. It was the first time I've slept in till 10am in weeks! The jacuzzi tub in the room was awesome and I love the Aveda products.

What really made the trip was that the staff was amazing and saved the day for me. We were about to leave for the game when I tripped and broke my sandal. I didn't have time to run to the mall. I didn't have any other game appropriate shoes. The front desk went out of their way to call maintenance to find me Super Glue. Then maintenance was there immediately. Jesse the maintenance guy took a paper clip to help fasten my sandal back into place. Everyone was just so friendly.

Not only did my sandals make it through the night but also the rest of the trip. Thanks for saving my trip!

“great historic hotel”

my friend and i stayed at the Emily Morgan on our recent trip to San Antonio. The rooms were excellent, clean, great view, close to everything we wanted to see.

It also has a great history. It used to be part of the Alamo grounds and also a hospital at one time. Check out the gargoyels (sp?) on the building.

“Not a good value”

Emily Morgan Hotel

3 of 5 stars
Vancouver, Canada
May 12, 2008

Emily Morgan's location was excellent. But the room was tiny for 2 of us to stay and move around. We had a conference to attend near by, and we occasionally had to work from the room. But it was very difficult. Both of us had computers and the front desk made us pay 2 Internet connection fees per day for the entire stay (4 nights). Why don't they charge internet fee per room??

Their Aveda bathroom amenities were nice. But the bathroom was also very small and without a fan. So every time after the shower, the room got very humid and hot. I don't think there was a fan in the bedroom either. The window was not for opening either.

The room was clean and their bed was comfortable though I don't feel the hotel was 4 star hotel at all. 3 Stars is probably right. I recommend the hotel for probably 1 night stay for sightseeing, but it's not a place for longer and business stay, not worth $200 per night plus tax.
