We have stayed in San Antonio before at another hotel, but this one was much more reasonably priced with more extras. Had a small problem with our air conditioner when we first checked in and they switched our rooms, no questions asked. Very clean and wonderfully located on the Riverwalk. The free breakfast, calls, snacks, and locality definitely made our vacation much more enjoyable.

“Great -middle of the road place....Super pool deck.”

We booked the King Suite water view side room after reading positive reviews on this website. The overall experience was good. The hotel is in a nice quiet part of the Riverwalk- a big plus. It is easy to get to everything but you are not fighting to use the narrow streets with the zillions of other tourists like you have down at the end of the Riverwalk where the Hilton and Hyatt are. That part of the walk is a zoo.

The hotel lobby was still under construction even though the desk clerk had told us that it was done. The four days we stayed there, it was all covered up but we never saw anyone working on it. That part was a mystery to me. This did not pose any real inconvenience as there was no noise, but the lobby didn't look pretty all covered up.

The room was large with high ceilings, kind of Victorian. There was a refrigerator and a nice clean bathroom. The rooftop pool deck was gorgeous and especially pretty at night.

The complimentary breakfast and coctails were served in the basement- in one of the meeting rooms. That set up was okay, but lacked the ambiance of the hotel lobby where they normally have the buffet set up. The staff was courteous, there is no door man or concierge, but the desk clerks will point you in the direction of local attractions.

The reason for staying here is the overall value- much cheaper than other hotels and yet it is a pretty building. The restaurant workers were exceptionally pleasant and hardworking.

When you visit the Riverwalk be sure to eat at Nicolino's- great little Italian place on the busy end of the Riverwalk. Avoid the Longhorn which adjoins it- the food, ambiance and service were terrible there.

The Drury was a very pleasant experience, we would stay there again- absolutely!

“Beware of reservations”

Drury Inn and Suites Riverwalk

We made reservations 2 months in advance and they got it wrong. Tried to correct them and they still got it wrong. Spoke at length to front desk manager, who guarenteed us our room, they still got it wrong. We wanted a river view with a balcony, which we eventually got, short of causing a scene. But the balcony rooms are on the 7th floor,so the only way to see the river is to stand up and and look "overboard". There is really no view.
Free drinks in the lobby and breakfast were good.
Rooms were OK.
Rooftop pool was not relaxing as all you could hear were jackhammers from the construction next door.
Location was good.
However, the aggravation of trying to get reservations the way we booked them was terrible and because of this we will never stay at a Drury again

“Great. A perfect stay in San Antonio.”

I was very impressed with this hotel in San Antonio. It was right on the riverwalk, had everything you would want, yet cost approx. $100 less than the other hotels on the riverwalk. I thought it was a great stay.

Location: Perfectly situated on a quieter portion of the riverwalk and just a few minutes of walking to the busier area and the alamo.

Rooms: Well appointed and spaciously, very clean and quiet. Air conditioning worked great and the huge windows (from floor to ceiliing let in a lot of light. I only wish that they could open to enjoy the view a little more.

Breakfast: We only had breakfast one of the mornings (very early). It was great eggs, biscuits, fruit, yogurt and more. They had everything! One of the other days we opted to enjoy a traditional San Antonio breakfast at market square. That day we got up a little later and noticed a bit of a line-up.

Lobby/Service: Excellent and staff was friendly and accomodating. Free popcorn too! The doors are locked at night so you have to use your pass card to gain access. The Lobby was spacious with plenty of places to relax. When we left (mid May) they were just starting renovations.

Elevators: Can be a little slow sometimes but it usually wasn't a problem.

Pool: Smaller but relaxing on the hot day we were there with a great view over the riverwalk as it is on the roof.

All in all there wasn't much wrong with this hotel and I would definetely stay here again. Keep in mind that there are two Drury Inn's in downtown San Antonio about 2 blocks from each other. The Riverside is the smaller of the two and Taxi cabs seem to have a tough time remembering where it is. Make sure you let them know which one it is and the address.

    • Disliked — Taxi drivers had a hard time finding it for some reason.

“Great for a Family”

We just returned from a three night stay at the Drury. It is a great location for a family. I traveled with four adults and two kids and the one bedroom suite was perfect. There was room for us to spread out and the two televisions meant the kids could watch what they wanted. The room was really clean and the location was great. We were able to walk to the businesses on the riverwalk as well as the Market and La Villita.

The only negative is the construction that is going on right next door to the North of the property. Our room was located right next to the work being done and it began at or before 8 a.m. every morning this negated any plans of sleeping in.

The complimentary sodas and popcorn was great. The business center was great and had free internet service as well as the ability to print for free.

Overall it was a great experience and a place that I would recommend for families.
