My family spent 5 nights during school vacation (4/14/06) in San Antonio. A nice, fairly clean city with the Riverwalk, SeaWorld, and Six Flags for entertainment....and don't forget great BBQ....
We found the Courtyard to be clean, friendly, and a good value. We spent $139/night for a 2 room suite on the third floor facing the courtyard (at the other end of the courtyard from the pool). Parking was free, however, we used public transportation most of the time (the trolley stops right next to the parking lot - .80 to the Riverwalk). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and remembered our last name by the second day. When we came back to the hotel at the end of our day, the folks at the front desk always welcomed us back, and asked how our day went. We're from Massachusetts and not quite used to friendly, service-oriented people, so this was a very nice change.
I tend to agree with other reviews - there isn't much around the hotel. A Pizza-Hut is a block away, with a little convenience store a couple of blocks in the other direction. We had breakfast in the hotel almost every morning (buffet - $8 adults, $4 kids) and had lunch and dinner at/near the Riverwalk.
The pool was a bit small, but clean and well maintained. The hot-tub was indoors and needed a good cleaning. There's a little store next to the front desk with a few snack items (expensive), and a vending machine on each floor with soda and snacks. A free USA-Today at each room door was a nice touch.
The biggest negative was housekeeping. They came a bit late each day (sometimes at 5PM) and tended to miss something in the room - ran out of kleenex or didn't leave coffee. Nothing huge but worth noting.
All in all a good value. We liked it enough that we'd stay again.
