“Courtyard Downtown is Convenient and Clean”

Courtyard by Marriott San Antonio Downtown/Market Square

I stayed at this hotel on two separate occasions for a total of six days in May and had a decent stay. Check in was very easy and the desk staff was pleasant. The hotel is close to downtown and the riverwalk and also in close proximity to the nearest highway. I like Courtyard's for being a nice place to stay, but without the hassle of a valet service, bell service, etc. My only gripe with this hotel is the towels are a bit small and thin and they don't provide skin lotion in the rooms, so bring your own.

“Wonderful stay at this hotel”

We spent three days and four nights at this hotel. I did quite a bit of research, checking reviews, talking to travel agent and this hotel was right on the money for what I was looking for. It was very clean and the staff extremly friendly and helpful. The room was clean and updated. The mattress was very comfortable and I'm used to sleeping on a Sleep Number bed at home. The pillows were wonderful as well - four on each bed - two foam - two down. The bedding was very updated, clean and comforable. Upon check-in we did ask for a room facing the courtyard which was not a problem. The entire hotel is non-smoking which was a big plus for us. It was a little chilly to use the pool but it appeard to be very clean. We used the hot tub which was great - also very clean. We didn't eat at the hotel, so have no opinion on that - other than it was a small open dining area across from the check-in counter. The trolley (very friendly drivers) stopped just outside the hotel and would take you right into town or you could walk two to three blocks to the Market Square. We never rented a car the entire stay as the trolley got us everywhere we wanted to go and we didn't mind walking a couple of blocks or so. The River Walk is tremendous....with lots of great places to eat. We found the people of San Antonio very friendly and helpful and will definitely be going back and will definitely stay at this reasonably price hotel.

“Spacious Place”

I stayed here with my 1 year old and husband for a weekend visit. We had king suite that has a seperate bedroom from the living room. It seemed to be recently renovated as all the furniture and carpet were very clean and firm. Our room overlooked the courtyard and pool. The trolley stop is on the property, which provided a short ride to the riverwalk for $.80. The Marketplace was 2 blocks away, with a fun family restaurant, Mi Tierra Bakery and Restaurant which was a hit with the baby. Bill Miller BBQ has its corportate HQ qith a restaurant right next door and the San Antonio Police Station is next to that. Santa Rosa Hospital is also just a few blocks away.

Some of my other family members stayed at the Fairfield Inn next door, which seemed cramped and shabbier when compared to the Courtyard. We paid about the same price for the rooms....I think we actually paid less. I would definately stay here again. It was easy to find also because there was a BIG sign at the end of Santa Rosa exit off I-10. I have been to San Antonio many times and this hotel really made a great impression on me. I have stayed before at the Westin La Cantera, Comfort Inn 410, Marriott Rivercenter, Gunter Sheraton, Hilton Palacio del Rio, and Hyatt Riverwalk. I think this courtyard and Palacio del Rio are my 2 favorites now.

“Reasonable Hotel for the Money - Good Value”

Courtyard by Marriott San Antonio Downtown/Market Square

My family spent 5 nights during school vacation (4/14/06) in San Antonio. A nice, fairly clean city with the Riverwalk, SeaWorld, and Six Flags for entertainment....and don't forget great BBQ....

We found the Courtyard to be clean, friendly, and a good value. We spent $139/night for a 2 room suite on the third floor facing the courtyard (at the other end of the courtyard from the pool). Parking was free, however, we used public transportation most of the time (the trolley stops right next to the parking lot - .80 to the Riverwalk). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and remembered our last name by the second day. When we came back to the hotel at the end of our day, the folks at the front desk always welcomed us back, and asked how our day went. We're from Massachusetts and not quite used to friendly, service-oriented people, so this was a very nice change.

I tend to agree with other reviews - there isn't much around the hotel. A Pizza-Hut is a block away, with a little convenience store a couple of blocks in the other direction. We had breakfast in the hotel almost every morning (buffet - $8 adults, $4 kids) and had lunch and dinner at/near the Riverwalk.

The pool was a bit small, but clean and well maintained. The hot-tub was indoors and needed a good cleaning. There's a little store next to the front desk with a few snack items (expensive), and a vending machine on each floor with soda and snacks. A free USA-Today at each room door was a nice touch.

The biggest negative was housekeeping. They came a bit late each day (sometimes at 5PM) and tended to miss something in the room - ran out of kleenex or didn't leave coffee. Nothing huge but worth noting.

All in all a good value. We liked it enough that we'd stay again.

“Nice hotel conveniently located”

We stayed at this hotel for five nights and found it conveniently located for seeing the downtown attractions but not as close as you might think if you plan to walk to them..The best way to get there is through the trolley that stops right at the corner where the hotel is located. In terms of amenities it is a very basic hotel that can be even boring.Nothing happens at the lobby, there are no convenience stores or fast foods at walking distance from this hotel. The Market Square is not a big thing that would impress anybody though there are a couple of good Mexican restaurants and a bakery there.Aside from that you have to take your car and go somewhere else or take the trolley to the Riverwalk area. The staff is friendly, helpful, and it is very clean.
