“Really like it”

Marriott Marquis Atlanta

4 of 5 stars
St. Louis, MO
May 21, 2008

If you need to stay in downtown Atlanta, it's really hard to beat this place.

The hotel is beautiful with a stunning and dramatic atrium that goes all the way to the top. The looby and pulic areas are recently updated. I think they may still be working on a couple areas.

The room is standard updated Marriott isssue. Great beds....great bathroom, nice desk. Nothing remarkable here but it's what you expect - functional, modern, and comfortable.

Couple of notes:
The gym was the BEST hotel gym I have ever been in. Tons of modern cardio equipment and full circuit and free weights. Couldn't ask for more.

The pool is being renovated so it's currently closed.

Also, there is a GREAT marriott store in the lobby. Part gift shop, part deli, part convience store. Of course a little pricy, but it's there when you need it, with a great selection

I look forward to staying here again.

But in all honesty, if you don't need to be downtown, I'd probably rather stay in midtown or buckhead...where there is more to do, esp. at night!

“Quick Stay at the Marriott Marquis Atlanta”

Marriott Marquis Atlanta

3 of 5 stars
New Jersey
May 11, 2008

We were in town to see a Braves games & attend the Bruce Springsteen concert at Philips Arena, & stayed at the Marriott Marquis Atlanta.
We took the Marta to the Marriott directly from the airport. We arrived around 1:00, and our room was ready. I had requested a room on a lower floor, and thankfully we were assigned a room on the third floor.
Although the rooms seem to need some updating, our room was clean & met our needs during our 2-night stay. The king bed was extremely comfortable, & the bed linens were nice & soft. My only real "complaint" would be the bathrooms, which are noticeably smaller than the other Marriott's we've stayed at. In order to get into the tub/shower, you have to step in alongside the sink & then close the door completely.
It was very convenient having the Marta station right at the hotel, but this hotel is huge, & we got lost several times simply trying to get in & out of the hotel down to the the Marta station. (You have to go thru a food court & across a walkway to get there). We found it was easier to just go downstairs & walk the short distance outside to get to the Marta station.
We also found there were many restaurants within walking distance of this hotel.
All in all, our short stay at the Marriott Marquis Atlanta was satisfactory, but for a longer stay, we would probably stay at a different hotel.

“The Best Place in Atlanta”

Marriott Marquis Atlanta

5 of 5 stars
Orlando, Fl
Apr 24, 2008

This is one of the most unique looking hotels in the area. I love the way it is decorated. It is clean and well kept. The staff are always wonderful to me. I have stayed here multiple times plus I have interacted with the staff on additional occasions while attending conventions there. It is really a top notch place. The beds are super comfy. The rooms have a wonderful view if you are up high.

“Comfortable hotel, fair conference price, clean”

Marriott Marquis Atlanta

4 of 5 stars
Bethlehem, PA
Apr 11, 2008

I stayed at this Marriot about 9 years ago for a conference. I think it has gone a little downhill since then, although is still a very nice hotel. The new Hilton down the block is much nicer though and more affordable.
I remember this Marriot as having fountains everywhere, which was part of its charm. Because of GA's drought, no fountains. I can't fault the hotel for this but it did make things seem rather boring and less extravagent. There was also a lot of construction going on in the hotel, starting at 8am.
The rooms were good size and clean...ask for a room above the 4th or 5th floor. Any lower and you can hear the noise from the hotel bar.
Hotel is very convenient to downtown attractions. Staff was helpful and friendly. Overall, I would recommend but it didn't bowl me over. Nothing special. I wouldn't pay more than $130/night and, in fact, I wouldn't have stayed here if my business wasn't paying for it.

“Nice stay”

Marriott Marquis Atlanta

4 of 5 stars
Germany
Apr 4, 2008

We stayed in Atlanta just after the terrible hurricane in March 2008. This hotel is impressive and should be the third biggest Marriott in the US.

We stayed on points and became a very nice room on the 43rd floor.
The concierge lounge on the 42nd floor is the best I've ever seen. Great food selection and very nice breakfast.

Unfortunately the pool (indoor/outdoor) was closed for renovation. The concierge found an alternative for us at the Sheraton next door where the pool is great.

Overall a very nice stay.
