I have stayed at this hotel many times and I have always had a problem with room service. I just arrived home from a one night stay and I am pleased to say that they almost got it right this time!
My room was on the fourteenth floor on the interstate side of the atrium. I normally request a room away from the interstate, but I wasn't that bothered by the noise--it was there but not very disrupting. The last time I was here I ended up complaining to the manager about my room service experiences and she comped my room service, which I did not expect, but I appreciated. Because of my previous problems I did not eat my evening meal here. I had a car and I drove to a nearby restaurant. But, I did have breakfast this morning. I was told when my food would arrive and it arrived athe time promised (45 minute wait). The food was exactly what I ordered, was at the right temperature, and presented well. I did ask for a large pot of coffee, but only received a small pot and no coffee cup, but made do with one in the room. All things considered this was the best room service experience I have had at this property. I have come to think of this as a place to get a decent night's sleep, but not a place to eat. As others have said the restaurant/food service is a bit lacking, Unfortunately, if you don't have a car you do not have many choices. I have always stayed here on the weekends and the hotel is usually "dead" with almost no one in the lobby and the adjacent office park looking very empty. I don't know what a midweek stay would be like here, but the property is clean and adequate. My room had a refrigerator, but an old-style television, granite countertop in bathroom, adequate towels and toiletries, comfortable chair, nice desk. I paid $98 for the room with a king bed and there is free parking....for the price, the place is a good deal.

“Comfortable stay at the Marriott”

I was in town for 2 nights to interview for a medical residency at Emory. I got an excellent price at this Marriott and enjoyed my stay thoroughly. The bed, linens, bathroom, and other amenities were comfortable and clean. I got a good night's sleep both nights and had a decent meal down at Kicks (hotel restaurant) one evening. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful in getting cabs and recommending area restaurants. The only downside is that this hotel is located in the middle of nowhere with nothing within walking distance. A cab ride to and from Emory's hospital was about $16 one way, and a trip to the Virginia Highlands area was close to $30 one way. The hotel does offer a free shuttle service within a 2-mile radius, so it was fairly easy to take the MARTA from the airport ($2.25 one way to the Brookhaven station) and get picked up at the station. However, the shuttle does not run on any schedule (first come, first served), so if you need to get somewhere on a timeline, it's probably better to take a cab. Overall, a good choice if you're in the area and don't mind taking cabs.

“Beautiful rooms; bad room service”

My flight was delayed due to weather and I took the MARTA to the Brookhaven station. I called the hotel at 9:15 PM to have the shuttle come and pick me up. The shuttle didnt' arrive until 9:40 PM and the hotel was only 5 minutes away.

I got all checked in and the room was really nice and clean. I ordered room service at 10:00 PM and it didn't arrive until after an hour later and 2 phone calls to the front desk. Needless to say, the food was luke warm (at best). I would however recommend the bread pudding - it was great!

I also ordered room service for breakfast, it was quicker and hot; but they forgot the ham in my omelet and gave me white bread instead of wheat. All of this was made better by the Manager comping the meal I ordered my first night.

All in all, the hotel was nice and the staff was friendly. If the problems with room service can be fixed, then this will be a really nice hotel to stay at.

“Nice hotel, would stay there again”

I am a business traveler, so I am also a member of the Marriott Rewards program for which I get treated a little bit better than the average guest. The Concierge Lounge is great; it's open all day until 10pm. Good breakfast and evening hors devours. The rooms looked like they had been recently renovated - LCD TV, granite countertops, comfy beds. Staff was friendly.

Downside - The location is not really close to anything except I-85. It's about a 15 min drive to downtown Decatur and about the same distance to Downtown & Buckhead. If you don't have a vehicle, you are Out-of-Luck.

“Awful, Subpar Marriott”

Atlanta Marriott Century Center

I have had several "run-ins" with the Marriott both for business when employees are in town and for leisure when I have attempted to use the hotel. This is absolutely one of the worst Marriott-branded properties I have ever seen. I am Gold Level 50+ nights in Marriotts and know what the Marriott standard is. Service is totlaly inferior. Forget about getting a wireless internet signal. It drops constantly. Noise from the hallways and from the atrium can be heard all over the hotel. This is more like a fancy Holiday Inn 2 star type property even though it has been recently renovated. To top off my most recent stay, I went to bed only to find ants crawling all in the bed on on the nightstand! The building itself is not bad but the service and overall quality of services (restaurant is like an old Howard Johnson's breakfast type restaurant and the bar is empty and not staffed 1/2 the time) is not good. This is definitely a low-class Marriott property and I would not be surprised to see a new name on the property soon.
