My husband, two children and I stayed at this very nice looking hotel. We were very impressed with how the hotel smelled [they burned candles constantly], and overall the rooms were nice and staff courteous. The reason I would give this hotel terrible reviews is very basic. We got no sleep. Absolutely no sleep. And don't you stay at a hotel for the ability to reserve a place to lay your head and sleep? We booked for 3 nights. The first night, we heard a series of cheering, clapping and loud screams. We found out the next morning that extra security had to be called in because a large convention was having a huge drinking game in the atrium. The hotel staff apologized and noted that there were several large groups in the hotel and security would have to be tightened even more because the guests were out of control. The next night, we heard screams of children and lots of congregating and laughing. At that point, we called the front desk and told them we'd had enough and wanted to check out in the morning. We found out that a wedding party and a family reunion both left their children unattended and the children were literally left on their own throughout the hotel, with the staff serving as caregivers to the children. Each night, our family of 4 got to sleep at 2am. The staff could not have been more apologetic. In fact, when we called the front desk at midnight the second night, the staff person noted that she was about to quit her job, as she'd been told to stay and work overtime and the children were completely out of control. She cited several instances of children who apparently were completely not following any rules and causing all sorts of trouble [I won't print them here as the stories were too many and bless her soul the woman just kept talking for about 30 minutes]. I mean it, the staff vented to me how terrible our fellow guests were. And so we booked our 3rd night at the Courtyard Marriott at Glendridge/Perimeter Center. I've never in my entire life had to switch hotels mid stay. The Courtyard was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. We slept very soundly the entire night. I would never, ever stay at the Renaissance again. When people are out in the halls or congregating in the atrium, the sound carries to each and every room. So, if you choose to stay at the Renaissance Waverly, be prepared to receive little to no sleep.
