“I would never ever go to this hotel again”

Renaissance Waverly Hotel

My husband, two children and I stayed at this very nice looking hotel. We were very impressed with how the hotel smelled [they burned candles constantly], and overall the rooms were nice and staff courteous. The reason I would give this hotel terrible reviews is very basic. We got no sleep. Absolutely no sleep. And don't you stay at a hotel for the ability to reserve a place to lay your head and sleep? We booked for 3 nights. The first night, we heard a series of cheering, clapping and loud screams. We found out the next morning that extra security had to be called in because a large convention was having a huge drinking game in the atrium. The hotel staff apologized and noted that there were several large groups in the hotel and security would have to be tightened even more because the guests were out of control. The next night, we heard screams of children and lots of congregating and laughing. At that point, we called the front desk and told them we'd had enough and wanted to check out in the morning. We found out that a wedding party and a family reunion both left their children unattended and the children were literally left on their own throughout the hotel, with the staff serving as caregivers to the children. Each night, our family of 4 got to sleep at 2am. The staff could not have been more apologetic. In fact, when we called the front desk at midnight the second night, the staff person noted that she was about to quit her job, as she'd been told to stay and work overtime and the children were completely out of control. She cited several instances of children who apparently were completely not following any rules and causing all sorts of trouble [I won't print them here as the stories were too many and bless her soul the woman just kept talking for about 30 minutes]. I mean it, the staff vented to me how terrible our fellow guests were. And so we booked our 3rd night at the Courtyard Marriott at Glendridge/Perimeter Center. I've never in my entire life had to switch hotels mid stay. The Courtyard was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. We slept very soundly the entire night. I would never, ever stay at the Renaissance again. When people are out in the halls or congregating in the atrium, the sound carries to each and every room. So, if you choose to stay at the Renaissance Waverly, be prepared to receive little to no sleep.

“Very nice, convenient to the Cobb County conference center”

Renaissance Waverly Hotel

This is an upscale business hotel, 3-4 star level. The primary reason for staying here is business in the Cobb County area, especially at the conference center which is attached to . There is also a large shopping mall across the street, connected via a sky bridge.

The hotel is fairly quiet with a large interior atrium housing a standard buffet restaurant, and a more elegant restaurant and bar. The fitness center is well stocked and roomy, with numerous weight and aerobic machines. There is an indoor pool, as well as an outdoor pool that was closed. Upkeep was nice.

The room was your normal 3-4 star hotel room, nice bedding, a 27" TV (not flat-screen). The negatives were lack of a mini-bar, and a flat charge of $14.95 for Internet and phone use (no wireless was available).

The hotel staff was extremely pleasant, and check-in/check-out was easy. They provide a public workstation for printing airline boarding passes. They also run a shuttle to the airport (about 30-40 minutes away).

Overall, this is a good hotel for attending meetings either inside the facility or at the Cobb center.

“Disgusted and Insulted”

The staff at the front desk were unprofessional, insulting, and degrading - making inappropriate comments and suggestions about my spouse. These comments were made in the presence of other guests who appreared shocked at the behavior of the associate while others behind the front desk unsuccessfully tried to hide their amusement. When we attempted to talk with the manager about the incident, our calls were not returned (3 calls with 1 hour waits between calls). We stay at Marriott hotels 3-4 times per month and have never been treated in such an unprofessional and insulting manner. While the facilities were nice (but not 4 star), the behavior if the front desk associates ruined the entire experience. I cannot recommend this hotel under any circumstances.

“Great Location!”

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a convention that he had to attend. This was a great hotel! Right from the check in- we were treated wonderfully. We were upgraded to a concierge level room and the location (attached to the Cobb convention center) couldn't be better. The room was very spacious and smelled fresh upon our arrival. The hotel had a nice gym, pool and starbucks cafe in the lobby. Our only problem was when we tried to dine Friday night in the hotel's restaurant "Medici". It was very busy, but we had a reservation at 845 PM. The hostess sat us and we sat there with no service for 30 minutes. I had to get up and complain to get service. This minor incident would not deter us from staying here again when in Atlanta.
