“Nice hotel - but beware of special events!”

Renaissance Waverly Hotel

2 of 5 stars
Milwaukee, WI
Apr 2, 2008

Our family of four stayed here on March 16, 2008 on our way to Florida.

It is right off of I-75 so convenient for those looking for a quick stop. It has a very nice work out room and a nice pool. Generally we found the service to be pretty good. The room was clean with the exception of the phones which were absolutely filthy! I had to clean them myself before using them. The bathroom is small - the door swings all the way to the sink so you have to step in and out of the way before you can close it. This was a bit of a hassle with four of us. Bathroom was fairly clean, but there was mold in the shower.

We found the queen beds very comfortable and the hotel was not crowded so our stay was quiet..........BUT READ THIS>>>>>

On our way home from FL, we thought we would stay here again, so we hopped off I-75 on March 22 and thought we would have the same pleasant experience --- NOT TO BE! We drove around the parking lot for 45 minutes and there was not one spot to be had. I ran into the hotel to see what was going on and to find out where we could park and the employees just told me we were out of luck because they had several big events going on at the hotel (it appeared to be weddings and a religious group gathering). The told me they had plenty of rooms but they could not help me in terms of parking. My suggestion to hotel management is that they need to consider the people staying at the hotel and have adequate parking reserved for their paying guests! Needless to say, this was a very frustrating experience and they lost our business. We stayed at the Embassy Suites down the road (please see my review posted on that hotel).

When I called, they never mentioned all of these events going on. If you want to stay here I would inquire about any special events or conferences scheduled during your stay. Our first experience was very nice -- our second, a nightmare!

“Bumped from this hotel--but treated more than fairly”

Renaissance Waverly Hotel

We had reserved one night at this hotel while we were returning from Florida . Our son called us to tell us that the hotel manager had called and left a message on our home phone. On calling him back, he told us that the hotel had overbooked and that they had made " alternate" reservations for us and would take care of the room . . I was very dispponted and told him so. He then said that he would give me 20,000 Marriott points ( one night's stay in an equal hotel). . When we got to the Sheraton suites, the nice hotel that he had booked for us, we found that the Waverly paid for our night there. I thought that , although I was disappinted , the Waverly had handled the situation more than fairly and I will go back there again--but I will reconfirm several times.

We stayed at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta, GA., from 12/30/07 thru 1/2/08. It's a very nice hotel. The room was large and the bathroom was a nice size with good toiletries. Everything was kept very clean and the room was serviced promptly each day.
The rooms overlook a conservatory with a glass roof. We tried the steak house and the food is excellent. There is a mall across the street, accessed by a walkway. While we were in Atlanta, we saw the Jimmy Carter Museum, the Aquarium, and an old cemetary. All were excellent. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to my friends and family.

“Renaissance Waverly Hotel, classy stay in Atlanta”

Renaissance Waverly Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Charlotte, North Carolina
Jan 1, 2008

Having stayed at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel several times 3 and 4 years ago, I was looking forward to staying there again on a stop in Atlanta. Once again I was greeted by the warm hospitality and helpfulness of the staff, including those at the front desk, concierge, and breakfast staff. The hotel is very well maintained, and was tastefully decorated for the holidays. The rooms are spacious and the beds are some of the best I've slept on in a hotel. They were covered in what seemed like a dozen different pillows. The TV is starting to seem a little dated, especially as more and more upper-range hotels are getting flat panels. The breakfast buffet was $14 and was very good with items including grits, eggs, pancakes, potatoes, and a omelet bar. The hotel is connected to the Galleria Mall, and has several covered walkways over to the Cumberland Mall. The 14 floor atrium offers a relaxing atmosphere, as long as there isn't a rowdy convention going on. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were a nice way to spend a cold December afternoon. I will deffenately stay here again.

“Pleasant stay”

Renaissance Waverly Hotel

5 of 5 stars
St. Louis, MO
Dec 24, 2007

Stayed on a business trip for two nights.

Parking is free as long as you park yourself. There is valet parking though.

Fron desk EXTREMELY efficient, i was checked in in under 3 minutes.

Room - adequate, nothing special, just like any other somewhat upscale hotel room. Has a very comfortable bed, desk, a rather old TV, but it worked just fine. For some weird reason I was not able to connect to wireless internet (it would not detect my room number), so the front desk gave me a code to punch in, and the internet ended up to be free.

Cofee shop downstairs - very nice touch, and very friendly service.

Overall, a reasonable business oriented hotel.
