“Nice hotel, Comfortable Bed, No Wireless”

Renaissance Concourse Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Rockwall, Texas
Mar 20, 2008

The Renaissance Concourse is a nice hotel within a five minute drive from Atlanta Heartsfield Airport. The entrance is pretty special with its floor to roof atrium. Check in went swiftly and the attendant was very friendly. The bed was comfortable. I had a "city" view but couldn't see the city from my 5th floor room, but really didn't need to have a view as I was tired and there only because all flights had been cancelled into DFW due to storms. I could sometimes hear airplanes taking off while watching tv, but didn't hear any when going to sleep and none woke me up. The room was average size, spacious and clean. The bathroom was large and clean.

I will continue my harping here about hotels, particularly hotels that cater to business travelers, that don't have wireless internet, preferably free. The Renaissance does not have wireless. They do have cable and it was sufficiently fast, but they charged for it, about $14.00 a day. If you cater to business travelers, it should be wireless and it should be free.

Otherwise, it was a nice hotel with good service.

Beautiful Hotel. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed at. Lobby is beautiful. Staff friendly and appreciative. Rooms were clean, modern and most of all quiet. We will definately stay there the next time we stay in Atlanta.

“Poorly Treated”

Renaissance Concourse Hotel

To put it simply, I originally booked this hotel in conjunction with our layover in Atlanta on route to Acapulco. I happened to book this hotel in September 2007 knowing that the hotel had amazing balcony views of the airport. It was definetly the hotel we wanted to be at. I even prepaid directly to the hotel in advanced to ensure nothing would be lost in the booking. Well we arrived at 3pm on day of booking and were told the hotel had no rooms available and we would be put up in a sister property and that they would cover it. I was very upset knowing that I had a confirmation and that we booked so far in advance for this particular hotel. I even asked to talk to the manager and he informed me there was nothing he could do. I asked for my payment back and he said no, we have you booked in at the other hotel for the same price. I didnt pay that price to stay in a second rate hotel. Well I ended up taking $50 bucks in cash and moved on down to the other hotel. The hotel handled the whole situation very poorly and there will be numerous letters sent off to Marriot head office and along to the hotel itself voicing my anger. I´m sure the hotel is as nice as others have reviewed but in my case I never even got passed the lobby. Guess it dosn´t matter if you make a reservation or not in advance. What a joke.

“Great place to stay”

Renaissance Concourse Hotel

Minnesota
Feb 20, 2008

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on February 16th, 2008 when we had a layover on our way back from vacation. We intially booked a room at this hotel simply because it was very reasonably priced and close to the airport. We got so much more than we hoped for and were extremely impressed with the hotel. The staff was excellent and were able to accomodate our request for a airport view room even though we arrived late at night and the hotel was pretty full. The room was probably one of the nicest we have every stayed in. The bed and linens were so incredibly comfortable we wanted to take it home with us. The bar and lounge were great as well. I highly recommend the Cobb Salad from the restaurant. Their airport shuttle is very convenient and leaves every 15 minutes from the lobby. We honestly wish we could have stayed longer than one night.

“What's so great about this place?”

I saw so many wonderful reviews for this hotel, right on the runways of Atlanta Airport. For me it was "no so much".

I thought it would be neat to have an in town overnight getaway (i live in the area). I reserved this special where you get a runway view, maps of the airport/schedule, appetizers at the restaurant. When I arrived, they had no package really other than a view room. They acted like they were giving me a treat for allowing me a view room when I had paid extra for this airport view/package (aviator package as they call it). Don't they look at the reservation?
Also- The front desk told me someone would bring the "trinkets" to my room and that all I had to do was alert the restaurant of my appetizer special. No one ever came to the room And- when I did go down to the restaurant, the staff said the opposite of what the front desk had said - and that I need a voucher from the front desk. Crazy. They certainly have it together!
It just turned me off.

Also-The room smelled "old". Just funky. Creepy.

Nothing to write home about overall. Just a plain hotel.
I don't get what is so great about this place. It's nothing special.

I guess if I were an out of towner, stuck at the airport, I may stay here since it is SO close to the airport but there again, there are other nice hotels (supposedly) such as hilton, westin, right at the airport. Maybe they are better than this place.

In short- I would not go out of my way to stay here.

Never again.
