“Nice Hotel in a Good Location but Not Perfect”

Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Perimeter Center

4 of 5 stars
Nashville, Tennessee
Dec 24, 2007

This hotel is a nice conversion of another property and is conveniently located. It is primarily a business hotel and is also good for weekend visits as long as you have a car and know your way around. The bed was comfy and the rooms and bathrooms are quite nice. The main negative, as has been noted by other reviewers, is the strange parking situaion. Persons unable to negotiate the LONG walk up the steep hill with their luggage will be disappointed. Persons arriving after dark with concerns about safety and security may also choose to avoid this property due to the proximity of parking to the hotel itself. The average business traveler will find this hotel is great and often priced lower than comparable nearby hotels.

“A Pleasant Surprise!”

Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Perimeter Center

We decided to stay at this Hilton for several reasons. 1. Reading other reviews. 2. Location, very close to 285 Interstate. 3. Close to Marta rail station. 4. Free parking. 5. They shuttle you to and from Marta, local restaurants and more.

From the phone call to setup our stay, to checking in, to asking for rides, to checking out, the staff was very kind, and very helpful. They made our stay in Atlanta and our Anniversary a worry free experience.

The room was clean, quiet, and smelled great. Each day they spray something in the room when they clean. We stayed in room 402. Good room because the ice maker is on the other end of the floor. The fridge and microwave was very handy for us because we made our own coffee (cafe con leche), and the misses likes milk.

It was great not having to drive around Atlanta. Parked the car and didn't touch it until we left. The -Marta- takes you to the tourist attractions. The 3 day pass for 11 dollars was well worth it. Driving Atlanta is not for the faint at heart. You walk up to the front desk and say you need a ride and they gladly accommodate you. You call from the Marta station, or after having dinner and ask to be picked up, and again, they gladly accommodate you.

You have to visit the Federal Reserve Bank. To see all that money being moved around on automated carts was fun to watch. The aquarium is fun as well. Two hints-- 1. don't take gum and 2. download the audio tour to your ipod before you go. They no longer provide audio devices at the aquarium.

We can say... stay at the Garden Inn, we will should we return to Atlanta. P.S. The hot tub was soooo relaxing!!

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. We are from Tampa, FL.

“Stay somewhere else”

The Hilton Garden Inn is okay. But I certainly don't recommend it for tourists. It's more geared towards business travelers I would say. We were there for a wedding (held at the Villa Christina) but came in a couple of days early to enjoy Atlanta. While we enjoyed Atlanta I don't think we got a full taste for it because we were so far away from everything. We could get downtown fairly easy via MARTA or our rental car, but it was just a pain. The Perimeter Center mall is nothing special... no different than every other mall in America. There is really no way to walk to anything from the hotel because of 285... which is another negative. We stayed in a room with the window facing the highway and it was quite loud. The staff was okay... there was a HUGE group of us from Michigan in town for the wedding and they were very good about shuttling us around (within 3 miles of the hotel of course). On Saturday night the wedding reception ended at 9 p.m. for some reason (we were all still rarin' to go!) and we all went back to the hotel and thought we'd enjoy some time together at the bar in the lobby. Well, the bar closes at 10 p.m. (on Saturday night!) and even though the hotel could have made a killing on all the beer and booze we were consuming, they still closed it up. That left some people going to bed, others going out to buy their own booze and drink in the lobby, and others going out to the bars... no problem... but I think it was goofy of the bar to close with all the money they could have made. The hot tub also closes fairly early (10 p.m.) and the size is a crack up (tiny). We tried to go in around 8:30 p.m. but we're joined by a bunch of screaming kids and their mother blaring her boom box.... so we got out... went to come back around 10 only to find it closed. The rooms are clean, but the maids come in even if you have a do not disturb sign on the door... didn't appreciate that too much. Overall the stay was okay, but I wouldn't stay there again. Since the wedding reception ended so earlier I would have preferred to stay at Buckhead or something similar and been shuttled over to the wedding/reception.

“Good Choice for Perimeter Area”

Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Perimeter Center

Mar 28, 2007

I stayed here for three nights this past weekend. The hotel is adjacent to the always busy I-285 but the room was surprisingly quiet. The facility is well maintained and the room I stayed in was well appointed with a comfortable bed, mini-fridge, microwave, iron/ironing board and a clean, spacious bathroom.
There is free internet access at two terminals behind the front desk in addition to free wi-fi if you bring your lap top.
The restaurant area is clean and attractive and the continental breakfast was reasonably priced.
The fitness facility and pool are small but well maintained.
The main drawback to staying at this location is that the hotel is in a business park setting with no restaurants within easy walking distance (due to the congestion of the traffic). They have free shuttle service to MARTA's Medical Center station and to Perimeter Mall which is on the other side of I-285 from the hotel.
There is ample free uncovered parking up a small hill adjacent to the main entrance. This might be somewhat problematical on rainy days.
I think that this hotel is a good choice if you want to be in the Perimeter area and you have a car. It would be managable without a car if you are willing to use the hotel shuttle.

“Great but Poor Parking”

Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Perimeter Center

4 of 5 stars
Roseville, California

I have always like HGI, and this one did not disappoint. Location near lots of stores and good restaurants was excellent. I also commuted into and out of downtown on the weekend and it was easy to do. The weekend rate of $80 was excellent. It is a reconverted property, and while the inside of the rooms were identical to other HGI properties, the outside was not. But they did a very good job of conversion. The biggest problem is that the parking lot is up a 40 step hill, which is difficult to negotiate with luggage. The lack of any 10 minute check-in parking is a major oversight - all the spaces near the hotel (on the bottom of the hill) were handicap. It was also a little hard to get in and out of the hotel with a car due to the one way streets. But overall, I would recommend this place to anyone.
