“Good Value, but what will renovations bring?”

Best Western Granada Suite Hotel-Midtown

Stayed here four nights during business/pleasure trip. Learned from staff that the hotel was originally apartment complex for students built in 1924.

The hotel is currently being renovated floor by floor. I did not see any construction during my Fri-Tuesday stay however. Staff also told me that each room would be updated/upgraded so please be aware this review is pre-renovation. Also expect upgraded pricing.

I found my room to be typical for a suite hotel. Nice kitchen area, adequate king bed, and a small bathroom. While the bathroom functioned adequately,it was not particularly attractive. My associates stayed in a two-level, two bedroom suite which I thought was nice.

What I liked most about this property was the close proximity to the MARTA station and the free shuttle service. Contrary to one reviewer, I never felt the MARTA in my suite. The short walk across the street and the ease of using MARTA to get around. was a plus. The shttle service was great - I learned so much from drivers Mike, Gerald, and Walter. They took us to Atlantic Station, restaurants, the Aquarium, and were so pleasant. Unfortunately the new ownership is considering discontinuing this service with the renovations. That would be such a mistake!

Also enjoyed the continental breakfast with Kay and the free internet in the business center.

“Great location, run down room”

Best Western Granada Suite Hotel-Midtown

Nov 24, 2007

The outside was very nice but once I got inside, I knew I was in for it. As soon as we walked into the room everything was run down. The room is a nice size with a frig., stove, and cabinets and walk in closet but they definitely need to remodel. The bathrooms were VERY small I could barely close the door. The price was very good compared to the other hotels in Midtown Atanta, and the MARTA station was directly across the street. The dirty rooftop view from my room just made me keep the curtains closed the entire stay. The morning breakfast buffet was more than I expected with freshly made waffles, bagels, muffins, juice, coffee, etc. Overall the location was great but the room was poor.

“No Customer Service, Already Under Constr> Beware”

BEWARE ..says renovations start Jan 2008 WRONG some renovations have already begun and they BEGIN with hammering and sawing at 7:00 in the morning! We agree this location is in much need of a renovations but starting at 7:00 in the morning COME ON!

The hotel staff was VERY lacking in customer service the main guy at the front desk was VERY arrogant and had absolutely NO customer service skills. we where in town for my husbands business trip (large Convention) and we found the ONLY bright spot in this location was the smiling, friendly hotel shuttle driver MIKE. He truly is the person who should be at the front desk. He was helpful, warm and ALWAYS HAPPY to help. Also warning this hotel has NO water pressure couldn't get shampoo out of hair, only change bedding every THREE days, not clean, had an odor, Mold on the celing of the bathroom, kitchen floor and cabinets where sticky. This hotel is conveniently located across the street from a main Martha (the rail system) station although WARNING the entire room shook when the marta came by. This truly took some getting use to.

I generally don't take the time to read reviews because I feel like someones stay is always based on individual expereinces but PLEASE save yourself the disappointment I wish we would have. I felt an obligation to other travels to truly take the time and write this review.

maybe consider this location after all renovations are complete.

“Nice Surprise”

Best Western Granada Suite Hotel-Midtown

Nov 9, 2007

What a nice surprise. I am always wary about Best Western hotels, if they are good there good and if they are bad there awful. ( see my verdict on B W Nashville). If you are on a budget then we found this one to be a winner.

As we opened the door of our third floor room my wife said to me I bet the room is small as it is an inner city hotel. She was wrong this time the suite consisted of two floors. The lower was like a lounge but included a fridge freezer, micro wave, cooker, dishwasher and cutlery. There was a sofa bed and table and chairs as well as a television. There was a storage cupboard big enough to hold a party in. From the lounge a staircase took you up to the en suite bedroom. Again plenty of cupboard space and another television. The only negative was the size of the bathroom, compared to the room outside it was a little small with only a shower.

The hotel was clean and the room probably could have done with a little decorating but that was only a minor point.

There is a self parking garage on site that has a daily charge. It is based on a first come first serve basis and there is valet parking for any overflow.

A self service complimentary breakfast is vailable which served a hot and cold breakfast selection that catered for all tastes.

The hotel is situated about two blocks from the main highway and close to the Margaret Mitchell house. There is a subway station close by to take you into all of Atlanta and there is a lot of it and although the city spreads for miles it feels homely.

My only real moan about this hotel, and it is common to a number of chain hotels in America, but why is there only one elevator?

“Great find, great value”

Best Western Granada Suite Hotel-Midtown

Nov 2, 2007

Ignore the negative reviews. I stayed here recently because their room rates were dramatically lower than everywhere else in town. My room faced the courtyard and appeared remodelled. A sink, microwave, and refrigerator were a plus. The location cannot be beat: across the street from the Arts Center Metro Center Station (and near the local museums).(Take the Tourist Metro Bus from this station to all the attractions.) Plus an easy walk to Piedmont Park and the Peachtree Street Attractions.
The breakfast buffet was great and very healthy.
Just blocks from a gym and Starbucks.
The only negative -- if this is one -- a wobbly bathroom toilet seat.
In short, if you are a budget minded traveller, skip the plastic chains nearby and enjoy the Granada Suites before they increase their rates too.
