First it is frustrating to go to a restaurant without parking. Finding a place on the street here comes with a great risk of a ticket.
The restaurant is beautiful. Simple, but well done.
The $12 frozen martini was a disappointment. Frozen with liquid nitrogen, it should have been presented still smoking from the liquid nitrogen. Unfortunately the waiter presented it late. Over 5 minutes later, my wifes arrived. The drinks were just not very good and certainly not worth $12.
The waiter put our opening order out before the drinks came. I think this was the killer for the evening. It bothers me to go to a nice restaurant and have my food thrown at me.
We were presented with a faux dish of caviar made with watermelon juice and this was pretty interesting. I was very impressed that the chef came up with this.
The bread that was presented was two 1/2 inch thin wafer squares covered with a puff of butter. One for each of us.
The three dishes we received were interesting. They were tiny to be generous. The taste was just OK. The first dish was a 2 inch by 3/4 inch sandwich; toast with a small spread of duck bbq inside. The second dish was a 4 inch by 1/2 inch wrap called a California roll. The third dish was a 2 inch square of pate. To be brutally fair, nothing was very good, but there was not enough to even taste the food.
At two drinks and three tiny dishes, we cut our losses at a grand total of $60. We were starving and didn't want to pay a fortune for more of the same, so we left for another restaurant for dinner.
If you are rich and can order six or eight dishes a piece, you may have a dinner. If you are coming for drinks and a snack, this place is pricey but great.
