“the hotel is not bad its the guest”

Intercontinental Buckhead Atlanta

i have a bone to pick..
i stayed at this hotel for more than 20 times over the year. and the reason i come back is because i like the hotel. it is no doubt a luxurious and grand hotel with the best bath tub in atlanta, the beds are like clouds and the staff are very helpful.
but people just like to take advantage of what they can get more..

i see priceline and hotwire guest disputing their minibar charges at the reception all the time. (and the reason i know is because the reception say your room and tax had been paid) the sign is clearly stated in front of the fridge that it will be automatically charged. the beverage will spoil if u remove it to store your things (which is not allowed), ok?

i hope i dont sound too corky but of course you people are going to think all those internet and parking charges are expensive when you paid $80 for the room.. you might as well go to a holiday inn and not experience the same luxury.

the reason that triggered me to write this review is because of an incident what i saw with my own eyes recently. an old lady was trying to check in at 7am when the check-in time is 3pm. instead of accepting the fact that the rooms are not ready, she is shouting and screaming and threatening at the reception like a crazy women.. she is part of a group having a function at the hotel (christopher reeve foundation to be exact)
the group contact came down and acted like a big loser saying the receptionist's job is on the line if this go to his manager.. and his "humanity" foundation is responsible for 200 rooms in the hotel that day..

its always these type of person who make my experience feel bad when i stay at the hotel. please go somewhere else if you are cheap.. i felt so bad for the vietnamese receptionist who just come to america and had to deal with these people

i really love this hotel and this hotel has become a place to hang out for me and my friends. though some may say the hip hop scene we bring to the hotel is disturbing to some guest, we certainly treat each person with respect, and do not stir up a scene.. mind your own business and just enjoy this great hotel together.

intercontinental has always been great and im very grateful for that. thank you!

My partner and I have just returned from the Intercontinental Buckhead and I must say that we had a fantastic time. We stayed here as part of a Deep South fly drive. The hotel is superb and the staff was extremely attentive. Everyone we met was an absolute delight.

We were upgraded to the Club Lounge which was perfect! The rooms were very comfortable and the range in the Club Lounge was good. The hotel is a great base for any Atlanta stay as it is very close to Marta, shopping and a number of excellent restaurants. You can explore mid and downtown without any difficulties and then retreat to the wonderful Intercontinental Buckhead after a hard days sight seeing.

My only compliant was the $17 charge for self parking and $26 for valet.

I am a very particular traveler and search extensively to identify the 'right' hotel. The Intercontinental Buckhead did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded our expectations. Do not hesitate to book this hotel!

“Luxury at its finest”

Intercontinental Buckhead Atlanta

My wife and I decided to do a weekend in Atlanta. We had the best time and the Intercontinental Hotel played a big part in making our trip great.

We stayed in a club level room for $319/night. It was expensive, but it was totally worth it. The room was great (comfy bed, beautiful bathroom, extremely clean). We had access to the club lounge which was awesome. They provided a complimentary breakfast, light lunch, afternoon tea, and evening drinks and appetizers. Did I mention they have all the beer and wine you can drink with no charge? The lounge overlooks Peachtree Street and is beautiful at night. We didn't use the mini-bar in the room because we could go to the Club Lounge and get everything there for free.

The fitness room is awesome. All of the equipment is Life Fitness (top of the line). The pool was beautiful and clean as well. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant, so I can't help you there. Parking was kind of expensive ($17/day), but come on, you're staying in Buckhead! Nothing is cheap in Buckhead. If you don't want to spend a little money, you better find some other part of town to stay in.

If you stay here, you must take the hotel shuttle (2008 Cadillac Escalade), which is complimentary. Willy was our driver. We had a blast riding with him and could've rode around with him all night if we didn't have plans. He makes it a lot of fun.

Lenox Square Mall is a hop and a skip away with awesome stores. There are also some great restaurants nearby. We ate at Lola's which was great.

I highly recommend the Intercontinental Hotel. Yes, it's expensive, but it's a beautiful hotel and is worth the money. Pay the extra money and get a Club Level room; it's worth it.

“Big dollars/little amenities”

This was my first extensive trip to Atlanta and I loved it! I wish I could say the same for the Intercontinental Hotel.

First let me say, if we had paid full price for this hotel, I'd be a raving maniac. We had hit up Priceline and paid $79.00 for the usual $360.00 room. Good deal right? Wrong. Sometimes you pay more for going cheap.

Although they stuck us on the 4th floor (we joked with another guest staying on the 4th floor -- he paid through Priceline also), the room turned out to be adequate. We asked to be upgraded to the club level at check-in but were told it would cost an additional $100.00 per day. Yikes!

Although the shower was lame, the bed was comfortable. $10.95 is insulting for wireless in a room this expensive. In most less expensive hotels, this service is free.

An important fact about the mini bar refrigerator:
Do not remove or move ANYTHING unless you intend to consume it. Everything in the mini bar has sensors. If you remove anything for longer than 20 seconds, you will automatically billed for it. We learned this the hard way when trying to chill some pre-purchased bottled water. Apparently using their refrigerator is a no-no.

Coffee is free in the lobby from 6:30 - 7:30am. After that, good luck.

Our first night, due to not being able to get cold water, we were reduced to water over ice and used the glasses provided in the room. The next night, clean glasses were not provided. This in a $360.00 room OR was this just the Priceline room? I'm not sure.

An important fact about the parking garage:
When we arrived and self-parked in the garage, we were astonished at the prices:
0 - 2 hours -- $7.00
2 - 4 hours -- $9.00
4 - 8 hours -- $11.00
8 - 24 hours -- $17.00

They charged us every time we left the garage and returned. It was outrageous. When we complained at check-out, the clerk said the attendant is supposed to ask if we were guests of the hotel. Apparently, the maximum they should be charging is $17.00 within a 24 hour period but as I stated earlier, if you drove in and then out, they charged $7.00. Many times, my husband waited at the curb while I ran up to the room because we didn't want to pay the fee. One time, we parked at the mall and walked to the hotel to avoid the fee. Beware.

I wouldn't have minded paying more for the room without being nicholed and dimed every time we turned around. If we had paid the full amount for the room and under the same circumstances, we would have spent one night and checked out and went somewhere else the next morning.

There is nothing special about this hotel (appearance or personnel) to warrant the price or the attitude. There are far too many upscale hotels in the Buckhead area with many on the way to have to waste your time/money.

“Excellent”

Intercontinental Buckhead Atlanta

We stayed here a few mos ago on a $100 priceline bid and had a good experience. Since it appeared that it was unlikely that the Intercontinental would be available on priceline for our stay a few wks ago, I booked it on hotwire for $100 by making an educated guess which turned out to be correct.

Valet parking and tipping adds up so it's great to get such a nice hotel at such a discount.

Our room had two double beds, extra long. The sheets were excellent- all cotton. The mattresses were comfortable and climate control was better than the previous visit with the room remaining very cool all night. This is important with the new trend of down comforters in hotel rooms. Also, the digital thermostat actually worked this time instead of phony readings and pre-sets by the hotel in order to save money.

Bathroom was also outstanding and spacious- room itself was on the small side but very nicely furnished.

The lobby was magnificent with some type of beautiful polished orange marble (?) covering vast areas and super high ceilings. The staff from front desk to bellmen to concierge were all excellent.

The front desk told me on check out that the walk in rate was over 400 per night so we were very happy with our hotwire rate.
