I stay at Hyatt hotels frequently for business---the Hyatt Regencies and the Park Hyatts are often my first choice for a business hotel---and I decided to book a room at this Hyatt Place property for a quick weekday trip I needed to make to Atlanta, when I was not on expense account.
I found this property to be an excellent value ($109 AAA rate) and I would stay there again if I was looking for a hotel room near the airport.
In spite of some other reviews to the contrary, I found the hotel staff to be attentive and friendly throughout my stay. Maybe this is because the hotel's "Host" (manager) was on duty whenever I was in the gallery/lobby area.
I usually take a pass on the free breakfasts offered at mid-line hotels, and I originally was planning on doing my breakfast during this trip at the nearby Waffle House shop. However, the ambiance and the breakfast layout at the Hyatt Place looked better than I was expecting---so I gave it a try. Fresh fruit (two types of melon and sliced peaches) was much better than I find to be on offer at other "free breakfast" hotels; there were two varieties of caffeinated Starbucks coffee (Verona and Gazebo); and the breakfast setting included nice china and attractive flatware. This was a pleasant surprise.
The main shortfall for me of my Hyatt Place Airport North stay was slow wifi (complimentary) internet service in my guest room. A speedtest showed that my room on the 4th floor was getting only 256kbps download speed, and the wifi connection (Guest-Tek) dropped completely several times during my work in my room on my laptop. I expect better wifi service from Hyatt hotels!
