“A bit disappointed”

Very little in the vicinity in terms of restaurants etc but close to the airport. Previous occupant ordered room service and the dirty tray stayed outside my door for hours after I checked in.
Pros = Very nice, comfortable bed. Well above average from other hotels I've stayed of similar value. Large room. Good quality shampoo, towels, etc.
Cons = No in-room refrigerator. No spa (hot-tub). No continental breakfast. I expected all of these from a hotel of this caliber.
Basically the place appears to cater to conventions and meeting places. Hoards of meeting rooms. Very, very little for the tourist / leisure traveler.

“Another Airport Hotel”

Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport

May 11, 2007

Location is very close to airport but far from anything else. Not a great selection of restaurants or activities in the vicinity. It is used a lot by Delta Airline employees traveling through and military personnel. The hotel is average, clean and the employees are very good at catering to your needs that seems to be the best part of the stay.

“Not for the business person; has some improvements to make”

This hotel claims to be top notch and the staff certainly tries very hard to make your stay as perfect as they can but there are some shortfalls. One, this hotel is in the midst of a "makeover". Problem is I couldn't tell if my room had been "made over" yet or not! Sloppy painting on the outside of my room door and see my issues below for more. The pluses - Sleep kit on your pillow w/ lavender spray, mask, sleep CD and a nifty CD/radio player by the bed. Lots of personal toiletry freebees and great quality too! The staff also gave us a free drink coupon at check in and a free movie coupon too (had to ask for that one). Finally I found a gym that offers free weights, a weight machine, eclipicals and treadmills. And FREE water in the gym - you pay $1 for an 8 oz bottle in the machine at the end of your floor. When did bottled water get more expensive than soda!!! Very nice restuarant with really decent food and fresh fish. Now for the negatives - no internet connections in the rooms or desk work space so the hotel isn't for the active business person. The screws on the towel rack in the bathroom were pulled out of the wall and so was the cap on the shower head to the wall. No biggies and didn't affect the performance of anything but still! My biggest peve was the hotel's ignorance to some issues reagarding what they consider so important - SLEEP. It starts with your room card promoting their committment to getting a good nite's sleep and the sleep kit is a very nice touch. They have luxury comforters on the beds and between nice crisp sheets - another very nice touch. But the comforters are soo heavy you can't roll over in bed - It's exhausting! If they want to do "Luxury" how about a lighter down comforter instead. Another peve is the TV remote - it doesn't have a sleep timer on it to shut off automatically should you fall asleep with the TV on. And the air conditioner is very loud when on (a/c or fan) so they should consider putting ear plugs in their sleep kit too. My last peve is the sleep CD and player. It's great in concept but the CD player doesn't have an automatic shut off and there is alot of talking at the beginning of the CD so when you do fall asleep, you are awakened by the CD starting over again and again with the irratating talking. All in all I like the place for the price I paid thru Priceline - $79, but would never stay there if I had to pay the full price.

    • Liked — location to airport/highways
    • Disliked — Hotel promotes sleep but has some shortfalls - too heavy comforter, too noisy a/c

“Extras were great, staff was okay”

Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport

I stayed here for a week in September 06 and a week in September 05 here is the rundown:

Staff: Lack of urgency. They are not in a rush to make your stay more comfortable. They are nice but not that helpful.

Rooms: Adequate. Not Crowne Plaza's best, but acceptable.

Room Service: Good quality and price.

Upgrades: A++++ Excellent! Upon check in were received a room upgrade, and an upgrade to complimentary breakfasts, and cocktail hours with refreshments during the week.

Value: A+++ Excellent. We paid $99/ night on [-]priorityclub.com.
Includes a free airport shuttle.

Overall, great value, food, and extras.

“One Night was ok”

Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport

In the UK Crowne Plaza is quite a high ranking brand so as travellers from the UK it was a bit of a shock to find a somewhat shabby but adequate hotel. All of the corridors had an area of dampness half way along them.. as if there was some sort of leak on the roof.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were large and had all the usual extras, including a free cd. The rooms however had a very musty smell about them and seemed very well lived in. We wondered if the hotel had long term resident guests as well as just short term ones.

Ok for one nights sleep over, as is very easy to find from the Airport after a long flight, but that`s all. A very basic "lived in" hotel. Also, we were surprised to find we were practically the only white guests in the hotel.
