This hotel is overrated, based on what we read from other reviewers.
Very nice staff, but:
1. elevators were dirty
2. fitness room needs free weight dumbbells, and the multi-station equipment was only partially functional; (and the a/c did not work in the fitness room)
3. the staff were not accurate in giving advice on local stores , etc.
But the staff was very nice.

After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, we chose this at short notice.

Buckhead is a great location in Atlanta. Using the MARTA it is easy to get around, espeically if you use the hotel shuttle service (they have a stretch limo!). This hotel is a bit further away from the shopping mall/restaurants. There is a bus stop near the hotel and the No. 5 takes you direct to Lindbergh Centre where you can catch the MARTA. Get a multi day pass (only availalbe at the train stations - use he hotel shuttle on Day 1 to get you to the train station, then buy the pass) - USD 8 for 1 day, 9 for 2, 11 for 3 and 12 for 4. Bargain if you are straying more than one day.

The front desk staff were all great, and most helpful.

The room was genreally OK. The big problem was the air conditioning. The unit is in the room, and it is VERY LOUD, even on low fan. We had to switch it off at night to sleep, so woke up rather hot.

Also, this hotel does not have adequate double glazing to cope with the huge construction site next door. A bit of a shock at 7am for someone on vacation who wants to have a lie in!!

Breakfast was OK, and they also had free internet access with printers.

Spent 2 nights in the Wingate and the staff is exceptionally professional and friendly. They offer directions and advice with great courtesy. Rooms were well appointed at this price point with laminate wood floors and granite counters, nice pillows. I had trouble sleeping due to a noisy A/C/heat unit and a room on the Piedmont side of the hotel...lots of Saturday night traffic, sirens. Requested a move and the rear side of hotel was much quieter. However, this is Buckhead and there is noise daily re area construction. Nice shuttle to Marta with courteous driver. Movie added onto my bill which was annoying but correction requested and corrected statement was in my mailbox before I even got home.
Breakfast is actually better at this hotel than at similar properties....food higher quality and service and presentation of breakfast is better than at competition. Also coffee and tea offered all day.
I will return to this property and recommend it.

Just got back from a business trip to Atlanta and stayed at the Wingate for four nights. I read all of the comments on Tripadvisor and after seeing it for myself; I have to agree this is a great property.

I found out the property owners also own a Limo car service so there are always upscale cars and drivers on a first come first served basis to take you to a nearby mall or a restaurant for dinner and then pick you up to take you back if you can’t or don’t want to drive.

The room was comfortable and the bed was first class. The business center was top notch and the Internet connection both wired and WiFi is free. The included breakfast had a great variety with omelets, bacon, sausage, hot and cold cereal, great homemade style muffins, fruit, etc. The European coffee machine with all kinds of coffee was a nice touch. The cookies in the evening are also a nice touch. The desk staff is as good as it gets, always ready to please!

The surrounding area is all business but there are two large malls that are just a few miles away. There is a Starbucks just half a mile away as well for us coffee lovers. There is a large Greek style diner that one could walk to, I ate there one night and the food was OK but I thought that $35.00 for a chicken pasta dish and a glass of table wine was excessive for a diner.

Two small issues were it is illegal to make a left turn into the hotel so one needs to drive by it and make a u-turn which is a pain. The coffee for the coffee maker in my room was never replaced after the first day, and maid service was somewhat sloppy with coffee cups from the lobby never cleaned up. I'm sure I could have received more coffee if I complained but there is always coffee in the lobby night and day so I never did but it should have been replaced regardless.

This is a great property for a business trip or Atlanta sightseeing. I managed to visit the Atlanta History museum which is just a few miles from the hotel and would recommend it.
