Wingate – Atlanta
We spent two nights (24/04 & 06/05) at the Wingate. Each time we had two rooms. I have to say I was hesitant (despite the reviews) – I guess I thought ‘what could be special about a chain hotel’ – but I was very pleasantly surprised – the reviews were true.
Firstly check-in was quick and the receptionist was very informative, helpful and pleasant. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. We used the limo service twice – which again I was expecting to be too good to be true – and guess what? It was true; the service was excellent & FREE!!!
I also had the pleasure of meeting Anthony (the manager) – we’d communicated via email – he was as helpful and polite as I could have wished.
The downside – the rooms on the back are noisy at the moment due to the early starting construction (about 3-00am on our first visit!). Also, on our second stay my parents were woken at about 2-30am by kids playing in the hot tub (I did report this to the receptionist on leaving, but she didn’t really seem interested), which was disappointing as all of the other staff seemed really attentive and proud of the service they provided. I would have expected the night receptionist to have put a stop to the noise as it occurred.
Overall – a really good experience - my rating was only lowered by the two issues.
