My fiancee and I stayed at the Wingate Buckhead from Saturday until Friday since I needed to be in the Atlanta area for business. The location of the hotel was decent, without too much that you could walk to easily, but a park that you could run to, and very close for driving to anything. It was also very easy to get on GA-400 for my drive to work every morning.
The car service was very convenient for my fiancee as I would be at work with the rental car all day, and it would allow her to do some shopping at Lennox Square or other locations very easily, and the drivers were very friendly. She was also able to walk to get lunch or coffee, but it was a longer walk than most people would want to deal with. The hotel gym, while small, was also in full working order (a rarity in hotels I find), the breakfast bar had a good selection of items and a nice, automated espresso machine, and it had a nice business center with printers available to use (though a computer on the hotel network kept trying to infect my PC with a virus, which I worry could be one of the hotel computers as they had no anti-virus software installed on them).
However, there were a few problems with the hotel. The worst case happened on Sunday morning, which was the day we lost an hour due to Daylight Savings Time. We got a late start on our weekend run and went out to the Silver Comet Trail (very nice place for running or biking), did our 12 miles, and came back to the hotel. We went to shower (right around noon, due to the late start) and there was no water pressure. After calling the front desk, the woman informed us that, yes, there was no hot water in the hotel right now, and wouldn't be for a couple of hours at least. I asked if they were going to tell us this, and she said they were just starting to call people now (after turning it off, but not before), and if there was another option available to us (a local gym, for example). I was told there was no option, that it would be back in a few hours. Well, this was our main weekend day to spend in Atlanta, and we obviously didn't smell too good after that run, so it was a huge issue for us that they seemed to make no attempt to solve. Water was not restored until around 6:30 PM, which would have been too late to go almost anywhere on a Sunday (we wound up washing ourselves down with cold water and washcloths, and using lots of deodorant).
In addition, the windows if you are facing the main road are not very sound dampening, so you can hear the traffic along the busy road very well, even with the curtain closed. The door to the room had a lot of space between the floor and the door, so sound in the hallway would easily come into the room and disturb you. There was also a lot of noise from the pipes when your neighbors would use the water as well.
In conclusion, for the Buckhead area, the hotel is probably a pretty good value, but I would try a different hotel in the future if I was there due to these issues.
