“Very nice property, great view”

The Westin Peachtree Plaza

We stayed here for a Saturday recently. We booked the "Heavenly Weekend" package (late check out, free breakfast buffet), and are SPG members, so we were on a preferred guest floor.

Our room was on the 63rd floor -- 6305. The view was due north, which was excellent...especailly at night.

All parts of the hotel that we were in were clean and in good condition. The room was average sized....not big, but certainly not tiny. Bathroom was small, but useable. The room and bathroom were both very clean, with only minimal wear showing on the carpet and some of the furniture. No "funky smells" or odd stains.

The room was equipped with a desk with fax/copier, phone, and coffee maker, and there was a mini-bar (over priced as usual....we brought our own refreshements and stored them in the cooler).

Beds were very comfortable.

No noise issues. We could here occasional voices from the hall and adjacent rooms, but nothing worse than usual. And of course, there were the average city sounds from outside. But still very quiet at most times.

Hall ways and public areas were all clean, up to date, and comfortable.

Elevators were quite quick and efficient for a 73 story building. We never had to wait for more than a minute or so. And the ride up and down is fast...only about 30 seconds if it doesn't stop on other floors. It is a little inconvenient that in order to get to the Sundial (floor 71-73) from your room, you have to go all the way down to the lobby level and take the glass elevator back up. The central elevators can go to the 71st floor, but they have that floor locked out on them. It was only a few floors above our room, but we had to go all the way down then back up. No big deal though....I like elevator rides!

Breakfast at the cafe was good, and service was excellent.

Pool and fitness center were nice, and there was no additional charge to use them (We're SPG members....I'm not sure if there is an additional charge for non-members). It's right by a couple of the large ball rooms, so you may have to dodge meeting-goers or people in formal attire while you are in your trunks and flip flops!

We did not use their parking, so can't comment on it.

The only complaints I had were that the mini-bar and room service were over priced (which is to be expected...so no real suprise there) and that the bathroom had no ehaust or ventilation fan (it gets pretty steamy after a hot shower).

It is a very big hotel and can get crowded....so it may be a little overwhelming to some.

I would recommend this property....if nothing else, for the view (be sure to request a higher floor....they will try to accomodate you).

“Someone was able to open my door with their card key!!!”

The Westin Peachtree Plaza

At 1 am, I thought I heard the hotel phone ring but I wasn't sure so I tried to go back to sleep. Since it wasn't my mobile, I figured someone might have just dialed the wrong number for the hotel guest.

Then, I heard knocking on my door. I didn't get up to answer but then I heard someone slide their card key and try to open my door. I had the bottom lock locked and the latch locked at the top as well. They were able to open my door but not all the way because of the latch so then the door closed. I was so scared at that point because I didn't know why someone else would have a card key to my room and the fact that they could open the door. Those card keys are magnetized specifically when you check in so no one else should have my card key!

After the door closed, I walked quietly to the door and looked through the peep hole and saw 2 men standing in suits at the door. I heard them say my name and then I got scared so I called the front desk. I talked to the hotel manager and he said that they had 2 guests with the same name in their records and with different credit cards so they wanted to check to see if the room was empty in the first room (my room). I was so mad at that point. It is not uncommon for people to have the same name but they just need to check against the address! There was no reason for them to check at 1am in the morning! Those two men at the door were security but they didn't announce themselves as security or anything. If I didn't have the latch at the top locked, they would have entered my room while I was sleeping and scared the hell out of me!

I was so scared for the rest of the night that I didn't get much sleep. I complained to the manager that night but all he did was apologize profusely for what happened. I complained to a different manager in the morning and he took care of the situation.

Be aware that hotel employee can enter your room without even confirming who they are and it can be at anytime...

“Better than expected”

After reading some of the bad reviews of this hotel I was afraid our trip would be ruined by dirty rooms but it was clean and comfortable. .
The best part of this hotel for us was the view. We requested a high room and ended up on the 60th floor with a great view of the city. Dinner in the revolving restaurant was great but since we had no reservations, we had to wait in the bar for a table for an hour and a half! If you have to, call from the plane or home for reservations.
Finding your table after hitting the rest room is a bit tricky. The center does not revolve and when you come out, your table has moved. Remember the name of your server and ask for directions to them! The bar level revolves too and the view is neat. Our server pointed out different buildings as they came around. A pretty good Jazz group played while we were there on a Thursday night.
We did not have any problems with valet parking either. Our car arrived within 5 minutes. It is 20 dollars a day but that is typical for any city. In all I would recommend this hotel.

“Wonderful!!”

We found the Westin Peachtree Plaza online and decided to read reviews of this establishment. We were somewhat worried about the Westin after reading some negative reviews; however, once we arrived and saw it for ourselves, we were hooked! The place was great! The location is perfect, the hotel was clean, and the people were friendly. Parking and room service were expensive, but the pool, fitness center, and rooms were great. The rooms were average in size, however, as a Starwood Prefered Guest, we had a larger room with a couch! It was great! We also stayed on the 65th floor with a wonderful view. Additionally, across the street is a Hooters, McDonalds, and Hard Rock cafe. It is also just 3 blocks from Underground Atlanta (don't recommend going there) and also 3 blocks from Centenial Park (Olympic Park). The only negatives I experienced during our vacation were very minimal (i.e., expensive internet, housekeeping at 8am, etc) and did not affect our vacation! I completely recommend the Westin Peachtree Plaza! Ohh, I forgot to mention the Heavenly Bed!!! If the beds were not $2500.00 a piece, I would buy one! Therefore, enjoy the bed while you have it!

“Disgusting and overpriced”

The Westin Peachtree Plaza

This hotel is not up to par with other Westins. Dirty sheets, moldy bath tubs, dirty rugs (didn't even want to take my socks off), very poor customer service, dark and very hot hallways, wallpaper coming off the walls. I would rate this in the league of simply a very tall run-down, old holiday inn.
